yes, both of their Austin & Ally's characters are very similar to Ross & Laura, except Laura is not a shy person and doesn't have a stage fright like Ally.

Okay al you people who don't understand why Ross sings to his exes in the Austin and Ally Episode Tines and Trials, I'm going to basically tell you the whole Episode. Austin needs a new song and ally was really busy working so Austin thought that maybe he should write a song. He was having trouble and ally told him to write about something (or in this case someone) that he cares about. The song Steal Your Heart is a big hit. Den and Trish try to figure out who the song is about. And this lady (who I sadly forgot the name of) says that she wrote the song and Austin stole it. BTW she wanted them to write her a song and they said no. (you first meet the lady in an episode where ally gets signed to her and has to dress up like a cat) anyways the four friends got to court against Mrs. Crawford. (I think that is her name) den has a brief case and so does Mrs. Crawford and Mrs Crawford switches the cases when he wasn't looking. So she called him to the stand he opens his brief case finding the lyrics to the song Steal Your Heart. So the Judge starts ruling in favor of Mrs. Crawford. Trish calls 3 of Austin's exes (Kira, that model, and Brooke) to the stands because Dec had misheard some SEPERATE conversations between Austin and them. The stories that the exes say aren't what she thought. So she has Austin sing the song. He does. And he sings to his exes. At the end of the song Austin is in the stand. And when he sang she figured out who he wrote the song for. She said and I quote "isn't it Obvious? When he sang the song he looked at every girl in the room but one. It was obviously to emotional for him. AUSTIN WROTE THE SONG ABOUT ALLY!" Ally walks up to the stand and asked if it was true and he said that it was true. She asked if he still had feelings for her and he said "no, yes, I don't know. I just really like being friends with you and I don't want to ruin that. That's why I couldn't say it was about you." the judge seeing Austin and ally rules in favor of Austin and says that Mrs. Crawford had switched the Brief cases. So Austin DID sing to his exes but just because he didn't want to look at Ally because it was too emotional. awwwww. Can you tell how big of an Austin and Ally fan I am? Anyways now you all know.

in season 2 the new eposide things go down but Austin admits he sorta still had feelings for ally, before this eposide they went out and broke up because it was weird for them. But I heard they get back together in season 3 (not sure if it's true) ally also admits she likes Austin too.
