Put it simply, Hangman just wants to be the foil to Swerve's rise. Horrible things Swerve things did before as a heel is there always brought out by Swerve himself. Hangman hates him. For Swerve its proving that he can do it clean in the ring, hence kinda a babyface but still heel. Hangman is obsessed with bringing Swerve down so kinda heel, not necessarily a face but just opposite to Swerve.

I honestly think this is a double turn. Swerve asked for five more minutes, Hangman laughed and said no and then bragged about Swerve not getting the job done. He then complained about the fact they are having a Triple Threat Match. Only a Babyface asks for five more minutes and only Heels complain about a surprise like a Triple threat

Hangman didn't cheat or attack anyone without provocation and he exercised his option to not give Swerve 5 more minutes plus he was right in his complaint that Swerve didn't beat him so Swerve shouldn't have gotten that title shot. What he did falls in line with his promise of revenge against Swerve for entering his home. Hangman said in a previous interview that he knew what Swerve wanted and he was gonna make sure he never got to have it. If it was your home that was broken into, you would've wanted revenge too by not allowing the perpetrator to get what he wanted. The only heel turn was the lowlife fans booing Hangman. If this was supposed to be a double-turn it was a poorly executed one by both AEW and the fans. Austin vs Hart at WM13. Now that was a brilliantly executed double turn. This booking was a confusing mess. Not the match itself. The planning of the "double turn" seemed forced and weak AF. If that's what they were going for.

He's pretty unhinged though. Probably the most interesting Hangman's character has been in years. He just got a world title shot and all he cares about is the fact that he didn't ruin his rivals shot. But Hangman has always been the "heel" in this rivalry. Swerve is too over. He can toss Hangman's baby out a window and will get cheered and sell "Swerve the cradle" shirts.
