i must be in the minority, i dont think the show would work today. The 90's conservatism is completely unpalatable today even to moderates..Hank comes across as hopelessly backward in a quickly evolving world. He already sort of it did when it aired which is why is worked but now its like a different galaxy. not only is the left today utterly inconceivable for hank,the right today has completely pushed aside its bush era moderates.

I honestly felt sorry for Hank in this episode. He was pretty much the only one taking being a volunteer firefighter seriously, but he had to deal with Dale (the biggest offender), Bill, and to an extent Boomhauer.

if you got hulu, all seasons are there. it's one of the best shows, period. I'd argue it never jumped the shark during its run. Highly rewatchable. During initial quarantine, I rewatched the series and it held up well.

I remember my mum showing me this scene when King of the Hill used to be on TV. When I learned what season and episode this was from, I got the DVD set of the third season and went straight to watching this scene (including when Bill farted) over and over again. The entire time I just laughed hysterically while shedding tears of laughter! 🤣🤣🤣 I also noticed that the subtitles forgot to add in Hank saying "Get down here. I'm gonna..." at 1:19.
