Hank Jones is one of the tastiest players out there. He's right about performing in Japan, and Asia in general. The response is amazing. I think it's because there's an inherent appreciation for the work that goes into being a pro artist in the east that just doesn't exist on a large scale in the west. Around here someone asks what I do and when I answer "jazz piano" they say, "Oh, sorry..." like all the choices I've made in life are worthless. Over there it's the opposite. I've had the privilege of playing overseas for many years on and off and whether it's in a hotel club or a tiny jazz bar it's always a blast.

Henry Henry Henry. One of the greatest, his total understanding of music, what he was playing and what was going on around him, his subtle swing were always apparent an amazing man who I listened to since I first heard Benny Crater during WW11 and became hooked on Jazz. I have 100s of Henry’s tracks and listen as often as I can. God bless you Henry RIP. Alastair
