I wore out an 8 track tape in 1968 of Hank. I always wanted to be a DJ so BJ the DJ was my favorite song of his. I retired from Shell Oil co instead.

Not many guests of Jimmy Dean were tall enough to look him straight in the eyes. What a great singer, songwriter, and especially a fantastic guitarist Hank was. Most definitely a musical genius. R.I.P. The Texas Legend Hank Thompson 🎸

This was on the morning Jimmy Dean show in D. C.. about 1058. I was in Alexandria VA and was watching the show where he was supposed to be there a week. On the second day, Hank came back with a broken arm. Billy Grammar played Hanks blond super 400 for the rest of the week.

Billy had replaced Roy Clark as Jimmy Dean's guitar player after Clark was fired for chronic lateness. The story is Jimmy told Roy don't even take it out of the case, you're the best guitar player I've ever had to let go, when around showed up late the last time. Billy went on to make some really excellent guitars. My son now plays the Grammer I bought new in 1968 for about $250 (at that time a Martin D-28 cost about $200).

Bert Rivera on steel. The Brazos Valley Boys were a great band. IMO, followed by "The Wagonmasters" with Buck Trent on electric banjo, followed by "The Buckaroos" with Buck Owens

That has to be a young Junior Pruneda on bass guitar. No one else held it like that. Who is the steel player? Bob White? WC

He pushes the high notes and backs of the low, Ernest does the opposite, it was a conscious decision, but there phrasing is just about identical.
