Hank, Jr., is a great country artist. Coming back from that near lethal fall off the mountain side is, indeed, a miracle. As his career progressed, Hank, Jr., did what was best for him, and country music fans all over the world are the richer for it. What he has accomplished as an artist is remarkable.

@@747-pilot If what gdannhardt wrote was true, then you would have to discount that same guy doing Family Tradition: kzbin.info/www/bejne/rpWThXqcj7h0eas Even the 90s had some great stuff (and some after that as well). And while true country has all but disappeared, you can't entirely fault the talent -- as you have to factor for the times. You can't replicate the atmosphere of times long gone -- and that environment helped produce what the greats became. I'm not excusing what sucks nowadays, I'm simply saying that there's a reality to it that few people consider. Moreover, there was so much opportunity to be fresh back in the day -- because everything was new. As the decades roll on, it becomes increasingly difficult to do that (especially in a world of convenience). And please, such songs as "Turn It On, Turn It Up, Turn Me Loose" and "Guitar Town" rank with the best ever done: kzbin.info/www/bejne/jp_YhJSBi9uInac kzbin.info/www/bejne/d3qxhoN8l6ujp8k And trust me, I know "when country was country" times too: kzbin.info/www/bejne/o4C4fp2Cgp6Mqck kzbin.info/www/bejne/pYLbiqFrp8ZghKs kzbin.info/www/bejne/r3OvmKeBi9yjqqM . . .

If there is ever a country singer/artist to be more qualified for the Pioneer Award or to be inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame, it would be Hank Jr, because he was one of the greatest cross over artist and probably one of the first. He can do Southern Rock great, he can sing Blues and Funk good. He's obviously a great Country singer. Just like Elvis, he can do it all. He definitely is one of the founding Fathers of the Outlaw movement with Waylon and Willie. He's just great all around.

I am glad he has been having a fine career of his own and I only wish he would stay away from the over the top drinking, cussing songs because they aren't what true country music is all about. In his private life it's his own business but not in the public eye. I quit going to his concerts. Thanks for this. - Paula
