I love this hurt and pain mixed with love and lies it's so perfectly sung by Hank Jr. It's all over but the crying is a classic country love song. "It sounded so true when you said I love you" whooo-hoo I love it. great clip

There's been dozens of good country singers I've heard in my life. Just a rare few tho that get ahold of me and make me hurt with them and live every word of the song. Hank SR was the first & Hank Jr has that gift he doesn't need a stage and gimmicks like modern "country" acts do. Just a guitar and a sad song he can do it better than most

I remember from my youth. This is one of the best country and western songs of all times. No doubt.

I think he was 18 when he first recorded this at or about 1968. I think it made it to around #3 on the country chart; one of several top 5s before he reached 21 years old, which makes Hank Jr the youngest successful male country artist of all time. He originally recorded this before he had fully developed his own distinct voice, which we first began hearing around 1970 with his first number 1 "All For the Love of Sunshine". And then by 1972, his baritone voice was even more amazing. A perfect example is "Eleven Roses" or "Last Love Song". Hank Jr has always been underrated as a vocalist; partly his own fault by not always giving his best effort, and also heavy smoking and drinking and his wannabe image as a rocker.

bill bayless who sang this originally?
@nicholas50504 жыл бұрын
@@Leann68 Hank Williams Jr. originally sang this, but he sang it a little different than this version. It sounded more like a Hank Sr. song than Hank Jr's new style.
@gregoryfaulkner53453 жыл бұрын
@@nicholas5050 True but in 1968 (age 18) when he first recorded this song, he didn't yet have his own voice, or at least had never shared it. That begun around 1970 with "All For the Love of Sunshine" at age 21. I think sometimes people forget how young he was for those first seven or eight hits when they speak about him singing like his dad.

After he recovered,,he signed with Warner/Curb.Old School New Rules is so down to earth good.

Up until the early 80s Bocephus really showed his talent " Living Proof ", " Old Habits " so many, but now he's just really shoving what he wants down his fans throat . He claims ( his fans ) understand and their good with his nonsense going off onstage . But they really want to hear the songs that put him where he is. Getting on stage drunk and no shirt and beating a drum yelling kaliga is highway robbery.
