I don't think so. He took them off on Tom t hall's pop goes the country back in the 80s and joked about having a jack Elom eye thing going on she Tom asked him if he thought about wanting to do any movies. Think he just put them on here because he was ready to lay down the tracks.

As someone who also uses sunglasses to help disguise an eye affected by an injury at birth, IMO Hank's scars and all are really not that evident. Even in his close up mugshot from some years back you really couldn't see much. I was a little surprised by how guarded as he seems to be on not being seen without his sunglasses. I must admit when I started dabbling in playing music I was terrified of being on stage and having pics taken of me. Then one day I was telling my friend from the band that I just didn't think I could get up in front of folks. He was trying to keep me positive and after pausing for a second.....he's goes dude I got it Just get you a pair of cool sunglasses like Hank Jr and Ray Charles and wear them anytime you're on stage or if we're doing band pics! Been doing it ever since....although it's a little easier to pull of wearing sunglasses at night if your a real star like Hank Jr! LoL

His left eye was the one pulled from the socket when he fell off the mountain and so he is sensitive to light.Been a Hank fan for over 40 years now and still not sure of the seriousness of his fall.You can't see any visible scars on his face and I've seen him with being clean shaven and only a goatee.Must have been a he'll of a plastic surgeon!!

The doctor said it looked like someone had hit him square in the face with an axe. His brain was exposed. Look at a picture of him from 72 or 73 then look at one after the fall. He doesn't even look like the same man.

Bocephus said all he had left after the fall intact was his left eye. His brains were running out of non present forehead. I've seen one of his scars over his right ear from front to back of his head before one of nine surgeries corrected it.
