This is my favorite sound in all the world. I had the Hankscraft 240 cool mist humidifier when I was a kid and it was LITERALLY my favorite part of being sick.. just knowing I got to sleep with that wonderful sound. It always calmed me down and lulled me to sleep... I absolutely HATE that humidifiers now days are whisper quiet.. they took away the best part... THE SOUND!! I wish hankscraft would make a comeback.. I miss having this humidifier!

So true! This was our real life white noise before it became popular and substituted by noise machines and sleep apps. I never have grown out of my need for a cool mist (impeller) humidifier(been using for over 40yrs because of ear and nose problems when my twin was born and had to always have in our room). I can’t stand the ultrasonic ones no noise ones. I have to find sellers around the country and in Canada to buy a impeller powered cool mist one to keep my sleeping sanity lol! It gets expensive and time consuming but it’s worth it to fall asleep to my favorite sound and have the bonus cool mist blowing in my face!

Awesome comment Ron, I remember when I was a kid and got sick I was so excited because I was off school the next day and my mom would fill the Hankscraft. I put extra covers on my bed and snuggled in for the night, the sound of that machine and the cool damp air made for an absolutely magical night of sleep. @@brianpalay2 Yeah man, over the years I've talked to a lot of people that remember this exact Hankscraft model 240 humidifier. It brings back a lot of pleasant memories for people. I know it certainly does for me. I remember being sick when I was a kid and the best part of that was getting to sleep with the humidifier on. I loved the sound and the mist sooooo much! They DO NOT make humidifiers like this anymore. The ones that are being sold now days are whisper quiet and hardly any mist at all.. they suck! But yeah man... When I first found this video I was absolutely thrilled because I hadn't heard this wonderful sound since I was a kid. I'm almost 42 years old now to put things into perspective! Anyway man, yeah.. I cannot thank you enough for uploading this. I really do sleep with this video on every single night. I hear what sounds like a door shutting or something dropping fairly early on in the video, and then some time after a police or ambulance siren in the distance..(Don't remember how far ahead into the video) lol but yeah this video has been a part of my night time routine for awhile now so thank you again! I only wish it was just a little louder. I have to crank my volume all the way up so I can hear it. If you ever feel up to re-recording it for better sound quality, PLEASE let me know. If not? This will remain as the video I fall asleep to. Stay cool man!
@sclerismockrey85063 жыл бұрын
@@kornfreak78 I love those other sounds you mention -- some little dropped item, the door and the siren are just charming to me for some reason; they're clearly audible yet so quiet, subtle enough that they don't disturb or distract at all... and to me in fact they add to the comfort and nostalgia, since that was the kind of thing I heard too, as a sick kid in the daytime laying there in bed half asleep, listening to the vape but also occasionally hearing a few sounds loud enough to rise over it every so often, the sounds of home, parents, the neighborhood, just the feeling and sound of HOME. It just hit me, it might be a neat idea to take some of this audio (for personal use, no YT use, I promise Brian! :) ) and adding another bed of similar around-the-house sounds, veeeerrrry subtly, including (mixed quiet!) audio from afternoon movies or PBS shows like Mr Rogers or 321 Contact or even The Price Is Right from the '70s, just the things we might have on the TV as we were in and out of sick sleep while using our humidifiers. Geez, the weird but sentimental things a simple sound like this can bring on.

I HAVE -- I've bought four of them over the past 12 years, and given away three of them as nostalgic gifts to some of my siblings (we are ALL born-n-raised humidiots!) but you rightly mention a "reasonable price"... lately the used values are getting stupid. I am glad I can maintain and clean mine, since now the average prices for a 240 -- around $80 to $100 BEFORE at least $30 + shipping -- are pretty nuts. I bought my last one online for $55, shipped, and that was only two years ago.

@sclerismockrey85063 жыл бұрын
Well, I learn sumthin noo every day -- I haven't seen a new impeller/cool mist type on a store shelf in ages.Guess I'll have to search online, I thought they'd entirely dropped the "old noisy" vaporizers years ago. That stinks if the new ones are such low quality. I mean, I have my working classics like the 240 to use already, but I'm happy to know someone's still at least attempting to produce the old impeller type, not just the ultrasonic crapola.
