I took my cousin to see Hank Jr in 1982 here in memphis at the Coliseum because she loved his music and had never been to a live concert. We got the full entertainment package:a guy getting arrested for scalping tickets,a guy getting arrested for fighting the police when they told him to take his whiskey out of his boot, and "Lord Almighty,Doug, what is that smell and why is this guy handing me a lit cigarette to pass on?" I think the best part was Rockin' Randall Hank ending the show with Kaw Liga and shooting his 30-30 into the audience(hopefully) loaded with blanks.

When I was 12 or 13 I use to go and deliver papers with my sisters bf dustin. We would cruise around Palatka and San Mateo, down back dirt roads, from 12am to 6am, and that is the first time that I fell in love with Hank Williams Jr. With the highest tweeters you've ever heard in a 90's model hard body Nissan with brass eagels on it. Still can feel this song deep in my soul. He told me a ghost story about San Mateo Dirt Rd. next to a cemetary about a motorcyclist that died on that road and sometines you can see his light and you know whats crazy we actually seen it one night ran straight through us while this song played in the background. One memory I won't ever forget and I have been hooked on Hank ever since!!! Good ole days in 2000 2001 times were so much more slower and better than. Keep the Hank tradition alive. I saw Hank twice in concert. Once when he was drunk, once when he was sober. 2 different shows, same awesome music. Drunk he was more energetic and social with the crowd. Sober he played longer. Win, win. I saw David Allan Coe twice. 1 time at a small venue which was amazing. Then I saw him at a larger venue and he stopped playing, and if you know Coe, you know why. Once the "issue" was fixed he played again and truly put on a show.

It always makes it real to have met a celebrity or relative of one. I am from northern Indiana but have a distant relative who was a Confederate cavalry colonel buried in Oakwood Cemetery in Montgomery, which is Hank sr.'s resting place. My father, still living at age 89, graduated from the same smalltown high school as did James Dean and used to ride Jim on his 1940 Indian Chief motorcycle when Jim was between ages 9 and 12. I have relatives buried in the same cemetery as Jim also.
