33 HR's and 67 RBI's, i thought that must've been a mistake but it's true, seems almost impossible, just looked it up and that's the 3rd worst RBI to HR ratio in MLB history

That's why RBI's are overrated. No matter what a hitter does, they won't have a high RBI total if the hitters in front of them don't get on base. The year Barry Bonds hit 73 home runs, he had "only" 137 RBI's
@jefflewis4
@jefflewis4 3 жыл бұрын
Ramirez batted leadoff most of the year, that's why his RBI totals were so low for that season. 22 of Ramirez's 33 homers came with no-one on base, 10 of his homers came in the 1st inning. If Ramirez had batted in the middle of the order he very likely would have had between 80 and 110 RBI's with those 33 HR's.

Hanley’s early years in Florida were the most exciting years that nobody watched. I’m a Marlins fan and I watched every game on TV but my God was the stadium always empty. I remember how they used to give tickets out for free in schools, doctor’s offices, car dealerships… if you paid for a Marlins ticket it’s because you wanted to because they were given away all over town and still nobody wanted them. I didn’t care, I fell in love with baseball because of that 2008 Marlins team.

Errors don’t necessarily indicate how bad a player is defensively, try to focus on advanced metrics like defensive runs saved (DRS) and outs above average (OAA); in this instance though Ramirez was both terrible based off his advanced metrics and he made a boat load of errors 😂

A 6 year-$70M contract for an offensive-minded shortstop in his prime? Today, that would be dirt cheap. Good content, but you didn’t even mention how he was a WS champion at a very young career. Winning is what precipitated the fire sale, trading star players to a Boston and being the face of the franchise.
