Not to mention even when they live in Florida or LA every Jan and Feb together in real time with no phantom caregiver on the couch in the middle of the night back at home or there to help him if he needs it (well other than her mother). If this started as a fake relationship they certainly are a married couple now in a real relationship now for all intents and purposes. Just to give you an idea of how long these memories can stick around, I am 52 years old, and this embarrassing memory is from when I was in Second Grade! We had "show and tell" day once a month in our class. This was a time where you could share with the class something neat you had received, or a special story. I heard the song "You Light Up My Life" on some variety show, and absolutely fell in love with it. I got my mom to buy me the 45, and nearly wore the needle out listening to it over and over as I wrote down the lyrics EXACTLY. Then the big day came. I went to the front of the class and sang (I can't sing), the whole 3 minute song, ACAPELLA! I knew I was losing my audience midway through, but I just had to share that most beautiful song, so I soldiered on through! At times, I wonder how many people can't stand that song because of me! 😂

I just experienced your videos for the first time a couple of days ago. You have certainly influenced how I see romantic relationships. It seems to me that what makes this work, aside from the wonderful humor and light lightheartedness, is Hannah’s self-confidence and independence, and Shane’s wonderful, dry sense of humor and intellect, and his sensitivity. I totally get it! It’s a beautiful relationship indeed.

You guys are just the best to share your life with us. Here’s my cringe story. I’m 72 and am still reserved with strangers. When I was a child I was PAINFULLY shy. I was 5 years old the first day of real school. Kindergarten didn’t prepare me for first grade. It was lunch time, and I missed the instructions that I needed to sit with my class to eat my lunch. I had the sack lunch Mom had packed for me, but I needed to buy milk from the lunch room. I bought my milk with the nickel I had and got back my 2 cents change then looked for a place to sit and eat. I sat down at the first empty seat I found at a lunch table and put the pennies on my lap. All of the sudden a boy shouted out pointing to me “she’s not in our classroom , she’s not supposed to be sitting with us.” Absolutely mortified I jumped up, my pennies loudly scattering across the floor, and ran out of the lunch room. I spent the next 30 minutes huddled in front of my classroom until the teacher returned to open the door for the afternoon session. I never made that mistake again. I’ve enjoyed your podcast so far please keep them coming. Thanks ❤️

There's a story I will never get over, even though I was probably 4 or 5 when it happened. My grandfather was a pastor of a chuch, but it was a church way out in the country in Iowa. So after service one day a bunch of people were standing in the lobby. It was summer time and the lobby doors were open. A pig truck went by and it smelt, you know, of pigs. So someone in the lobby says "Pee yew! That stinks!" And little ol me says "Excuse me, I tooted!" and the whole place roared. Even now at family gatherings (I'm 33) someone will look at me and say "Pee yew, that stinks!" and everyone laughs. I must have been adorable :P

This is sweet. I love that Shane is looking so lovingly at Hannah, smiling and tolerant, just loving how honest and forthcoming Hannah is in her stories of her past silliness. Some of us take a little more time than others to grow up. It's all okay. As we all know now, our childhood is gone so quickly, we should all have the freedom that Hannah had to enjoy what she liked as long as she could 'cause once it's over, IT'S OVER. Our choir leader decided to give me a solo part to sing for a baptism, and I was REALLY nervous about having to do it - I didn't want everyone looking at me! But the big day came, and there I stood in my pretty little dress, ready to do my solo part, when my stomach, which was upset from being so nervous, decided that the hymn needed a bit of bass. Your cringe stories brought up many old stories from my past. I just turned 75 so stories may change, but the cringe feeling is the same! When I was 8 or so, I was as obsessed with The Mousketeers as Hannah was with Hannah Montana. I wanted to be on the show so badly that I would dress according to the topic for the day, (thanks to my creative mom, who made costumes for me) and sing and dance along with the TV show. I lacked the tap shoes, but she gave me a choice one Easter; get white shoes perfect for my pink Easter dress, OR, get tap shoes. Black, shiney, noisy tap shoes. No question. I HAD to tap. The decision haunts me to this day and makes me still cringe. Walking into church in my pink dress and matching Easter hat as my shoes loudly tap tapped down the aisle wrom the back of the church to the front row, every person turning and staring at the would be Mousketeer clickety clacked to the front row!

Why do YOU have a Disability and THEY have special needs? This is a really good example of how ‘special needs’ is a euphemism used to separate and dehumanize, especially when it’s paired with you blaming your children for your disability. “Baptized in a swimming pool”!!! Hysterical. I was taking a ‘water aerobics class with my mom. We go to the high school pool, and had just finished telling my friend how we were sure we wouldn’t know anyone in the class. We go in and there are several women my mom knew, like, half the women in the class from the Music Boosters club. Anyway, we went in the class and stayed off to the side because my mom and girlfriend couldn’t follow the directions of the Instructor. So then she has each of us take some weights, but she singles me out as someone who needed a weight belt, because she was sure my hands couldn’t hold them sufficiently. So we’re supposed to walk in the pool with the weights in our hands very quickly. I’m not able to walk as quickly with the weights, so I’m off to the side trying to keep up and eventually the centrifugal force of many many ladies and 10 lbs each extra weight swept me out to deeper water(more than 3 or 4 ft) and I started yelling for my mom. She had to come drag me back and but me up on the steps so I wouldn’t be swept away. If people weren’t already staring, they were now. And they continued to stare twice a week for the rest of the classes.

I love your stories! But as Shane was talking about humming with the vacuum and feeling good, we now know that humming and even singing stimulates the Vagus nerve. That is the largest nerve in the body and it helps us rest, digest and feel relaxed! Keep humming Shane! 😁

Hiya, I started reading people assume my girlfriend is my nurse last night, I couldn't put it down! So funny had me laughing out loud and made me think and reflect. Thanks Shane and hannah! x

Hannah definitely is head over heals with Shane! I love the way she giggles as well. These were all very cute and adorable stories about what happened to you both.... they're not Cringe, and your trip, you were just starting out on a journey together, I think it was so cute, fun, enjoyable, plus you were in love ❤️

I was born in 1982, so in the 90’s I would curl my bangs then tease them out to be bigger and spray stuff with Aquanet. It was years later looking back at pics I asked my mom how she let me leave the house looking like that?! My bangs were literally sticking STRAIGHT up and stiff in so many pics from that timeframe. I had NO CLUE how completely ridiculous I looked. In the 4th grade, I ripped the entire backside out of my jeans in the middle of field hockey. The teacher even rolled on the ground laughing, I was mortified and ran to the nearest bathroom where I refused to come out until someone brought a jacket to tie around my waist. Then the nurse had to call my dad to bring me new pants, he laughed and laughed and laughed for years about it after.

When I was in 2nd and 3rd grade there was a girl named Mary P. Who was petite, pretty and I wanted to be her, was OBSESSED with being her. She walked pigeon toed (toes turned in) and I thought it looked so cool, so for two years I forced myself to walk pigeon toed to the point that my mother took me to the doctor because she thought there was something wrong with me

As one of the, perhaps 5, people invested in the hand-ointment story... Thank you for the update! I hope to hear more in the next episode :) If it works I would be genuinely interested in knowing the name of that ointment ^^'
