Hannah Wants... Speed Garage and Bassline House Classics set - Live from Birmingham Pride 2019!

Sooooooo... a couple of weeks ago (25.05.19) I played at Pride in my hometown of Birmingham. I used to DJ at Pride every year when I first started DJ’ing 10-15 years ago and it’s somewhere that holds mega special memories for obvious reasons.
I decided to take a trip down memory lane and play a very special one off one hour Birmingham Classics set featuring some of the speed garage and bassline house bangers from that era.
It was without a doubt one of my favourite sets in a long time simply because I got to play tracks I love that I haven’t played in sooooo many years. The music in this set is what I listened to when I first started going out raving and the music I started DJ’ing way back when.
PS. Just a couple of FYI’s before the KZbin mafia pipe up... 1. I promise my camo pants fit me 100 at the start of the day, a day of raving and partying clearly loosens fabric. 2. Allow a couple of the mixes, they’re not as tight as I’d like them to be but a few of the MP3’s were forever changing vinyl rips.

Yea , for me speed garage was more 187 lockdown , rip groove etc Most djs played it in garage set in late 90s of course Reach & spin , Roger Ruff etc djs wanted faster grooves n bass But you could play it house n garage bumpy flava n raw speed garage bits on vinyl all together as DJ

I remember that bar - though a few years before you. I'm originally from Brum - but was lucky enough to be in London '97 - exactly where & when Speed Garage was born. Weird thing... in my experience the line "It's a London Thing" was true - I went back to B'ham knowing all the tunes - would impress the DJ's when I asked them for 'cutting edge' tracks - and they'd all play them way too fast!!

The classic tunes and excellent mixing on this session are fantastic, but it saddens me to see the audience hardly dancing to such amazing tunes! Back in the 90's when I was clubbing the audience would've been a mix of moving bodies to the beats and hands waving like mental in the air like we just didn't care!!!
