@lezliesmith3354 Жыл бұрын
The only thing you can do to help, is continue taking prenatal vitamins. My second baby is 5 months old and I'm still taking them - mostly because I'm nursing, but I have noticed I have less severe hair loss this time vs with my first. Could be coincidence - but I do think it's helping that I'm getting all the vitamins and minerals I need this time around vs not taking any vitamins in the post partum period with my first. To be clear - I still have hair loss, but it's not as bad. It's been easier to tame and "hide". Which is a relief since I'm getting married next month and don't want a ton of baby hairs flying around 😂
@isfpoisson Жыл бұрын
The hair loss was such a sad part of my postpartum, but I dealt with it because a) it's inevitable, it's just the hair cycle and b) it will end on its own. And it did! This is why women need to be educated on how their bodies recover from pregnancy and deliver. Otherwise, all of the changes are scary, sad, and women can become targets of pseudoscience schemes!
@notjustanotherbrickinthewall Жыл бұрын
The second story reminded me when I was harassed by a Herbalife woman in my gym. I’ve been training for years and I’m friends with the trainers in the gym, who actually work there and are real trainers. Those people helped me from time to time if I had a wrong posture when working out. One day I was in gym working out with my boyfriend and this lady with Herbalife bottle who I never seen in this gym approached me. She started explaining to me how I’m not doing my workout the right way. I thanked her and said how I’ve been working out for years and there are gym trainers who would say something if I really wasn’t doing it right. She gave me an attitude and told me she was trying to help. I returned to my workout and not realising, she was behind me, touching my hips trying to “fix” my posture. I asked her to not touch me and told her I don’t need her help. I went away and she followed me everywhere I go, checking if I was doing my workout the right way. I again approached her and told her to stop following me because it’s seriously creepy and even if my posture isn’t good, it’s not on her to harass me. She went away finally and I have never seen her again in that gym. I do have to say, my boyfriend also tried to tell her not to bother me because my posture was good and if I really needed help, he would help me as he is training for many years.

Post partum hair loss is a thing, there's nothing much you can do. You are shedding all the hair that your body held onto while it was busy nourishing your baby in the womb. I have never been involved with an mlm, and I am so happy about that. The whole business set up reminds me of when my great grandfather, his brothers, and their sons worked in the coal mines of Eastern Kentucky around the early 1900s. Back in those days, the coal mine and the land around it was owned by the mining company. On that land, the company would build little ramshackle houses, usually one or two rooms, and they would have a "bank", a "general store" and sometimes a doctor's office. All of these enterprises were owned by the mining company. If you worked the mines, you had live in one of the houses. Your pay each week was docked for the "rent". You were paid in company "script", which is basically Monopoly money that is only good at the company store. Prices were higher than in town, but you had no real money to spend in town. It was a way to keep the miners working for the company, because you could not quit if you "owed" money for the rent and to the company store. Modern day slavery. These MLMs sound very similar.

Agree with going to the doctor if you're sick too long. I one started off with a cold and four months later I was having an incredible cough and constant headaches. The thing was I kept getting better, then relapsing, then getting better, than relapsing. When I finally got frustrated enough and went to my physician, she said that I had a serious lung infection. By stringing certain events over the past few months together we found that I had a cold, and then when I kept relapsing my body got weaker and weaker until the point that it just gave up and the cold settled into an infection. Like two more weeks and I would've died.

YES @ personal purchases. Don’t know if the rules have since tightened, but as of 5 years ago I knew of high-ups at the very top of Scentsy who would purchase the monthly product quota themselves, give it away to their downline as ‘prizes’ or use it as testers then claim it at tax time as a work expense. The company has rules that are ostensibly designed to prevent excessive self-purchasing, but the higher-ups in question flout these rules by buying from each other’s accounts and ‘lifting each other up’.

Story 4 For post partum hair loss, you don't need anything, and frankly nothing will really help. Hair follicles have two phases, growth, and rest, followed by shedding. Rinse and repeat. When pregnant, more of women's hair follicles enter resting, and less of them shed to restart growth phase. This results in women having thicker hair when pregnant. Once you're no longer pregnant, all of that backlogged shedding happens rapidly. Your hair ends up thinning because the ratio of growth phase to rest phase was thrown off. It usually goes back to normal after a year though.

The plexus one actually made me sad, when I was pregnant with my first born a cousin of mine was selling plexus and she was also pregnant. She was all about it on her Facebook and pretty much all she talked about. She seemed so happy and vibrant and kept pushing it on me. I told her I was just afraid to take any supplements and even gave up some herbal teas because I was afraid for anything to harm my baby. She seemed a bit annoyed at me for saying this and reminded me that we were both pregnant and she takes all of the supplements and she and her baby are just fine. She just said she understood, and we left it at that. I gave birth to a healthy baby boy, and she ended up losing her baby girl full term. I'm not saying Plexus had anything to do with it, but it's just sad to me nonetheless.

I have a MLM story that I’m going to share here because its very very short and I was never directly involved. Probably 10-15 years ago there was a MRSA outbreak in my area that was linked to a arbonne party. Since this was so long ago I don’t remember any details.

My mom didn't know much about MLMs back in the day but what she did know was that she never wanted to support Mary Kay. Back in the day, they got exposed for animal testing and my mom was disgusted. Researching now, I see multiple sources saying they still aren't cruelty free, so please be aware of that

Plexus OP: Please send in more details on your internship...I've been curious about the corporate side of MLMs for a long while and I think alot of other people are curious as well.

The first story freaked me out because she listed 3 essential oils that are toxic to ingest... I recently looked into this as my newest D&D character is an essential oil hun 😂

Please don't eat the essential oils they are meant for smelling they probably have perfumes and things in them they're not meant to be eaten! You may as well just spray air freshener or perfume directly into your mouth

I'm guessing being in Mary Kay for 40 years is why she's doing so well. I can't imagine the market was anywhere near as saturated in the early 80s. I'm in my late 40s and the only place I heard of MK in the 80s was the comic strip Bloom County and that related to animal testing (which probably didn't actually involve penguins), not their business model.

And there was nowhere near as much competition in that era! Nowadays it's Ulta, Sephora, indies like Moira and Nomad, and the drug store is heating up 🔥 I got Revolution eye cream for $7.50 and it's good.

@@maryeckel9682 I think there were more everyday places that sold makeup back then. I remember my local grocery store having a great makeup section back when I started having an interest in makeup. Now, good luck finding more than a few options in a couple of brands.

First story is really interesting because it seems like she has cognitive dissonace going on. She has enough connection to reality to realize she was doing harm by her recommendation, but she also had to qualify to herself that she only "overdid it" because she's probably pretty deep in it.
