MLM retirement…I was a nanny for a wealthy family that was high in ranking to a major mlm. Due to their ranking they went to training seminars out of town 2-3 times per month (usually a th-m) I had charge over a 9,7,4, and 4 mo old children. I did EVERYTHING. Drove the mom suburban to Karate, gymnastics, dance, church group, carpool, etc. I also helped with homework, chores, all meals. I was basically a mom of 4 that had to get up in the middle of the night with the baby and still get up and get everyone fed and ready for school at 7:30. Here’s the thing that never sat well with me: their company sells the idea that you can “retire” and have more freedom with your time so you can spend it with your family. I was spending ALOT of time with their kids while they were still working So I couldn’t grasp that concept they were selling. I loved the kids and the job was fulfilling. It actually gave me great experience to be a mom. I remember thinking my first baby was easy after being a “mom” to 4 kids.

I can't imagine those buttons working very well. If I'm on vacation, especially somewhere as expensive as Disney, the last things I'd want to chat about would be "business opportunities" or "weight loss." With the story about the Scentsy hun taking advantage of her mother, the other daughter might want to see if adult protective services might be able to help. I don't know if that's something they have access to or if it falls under their umbrella, but hoarding is a mental illness and it's being exploited, so hopefully they can help.

It's really ironic that they use the word "retire". The nasty surprise that they will get at retirement age is that if you don't put money INTO Social Security, you'll get ZERO Social Security at retirement. I was in MLMs for decades, but it was always just a hobby and I refused to quit my corporate jobs. I have a friend who is almost 70 and she gets NOTHING from Social Security, even though she worked real jobs, but not for long enough. She gets none of the money she put into it because she wanted time and financial freedom. I'm almost 70 and I could live on the Social Security I get, but I CHOOSE to work, but only about 80 hours a month, just to get out of the house and it always leads to an increase in my benefits. There is no freedom in having to work past retirement age. I know a couple where her Scentsy business has been very successful, so she retired her husband. He was in law enforcement, but he's only 35, so he probably won't see a dime of his Social Security. So sad.

@@themurdernerd oh yeah, at the time he was mainly working as a plumber, so I don’t think anything about menstruation would have been shocking to him. The mlm stuff was always confusing to me because it was always short lived, but he’s been trying to get a stream of passive income his whole life and I guess he realized the mlms weren’t the easy money he was probably promised.

re college vs Mlms. Totally agree that mlms are a bad option. however (and not in US context) going to Uni for the sake of getting a degree is not the only option. vocational training is as valuable as the academic studies. My dad worked as a careers advisor at high schools and was keen to affirm the non academic as equally valid options. In Uk there has been a push to increase the number of people in university courses, as if everyone is suited to this or that the academic route is better than vocational training. My dad was always keen to point out that when you have a leak you are not bothered about who has a degree, only if if they know what they are doing to fix your leak.

I know this is a year after the video, but I wanted to share. In 2010 I was a TW Hon and we had our annual convention , Jubilee, at Disney. We stayed in one of the Disney hotels and had our meetings in the hotel. Tupperware s headquarters is in Orlando.

The clean feminine product thing is something I tried to look into but could not find anything on it. I don't recall the name of the product either but I saw a tiktok about it claiming there was ink in the ones you buy from the store.

I remember going to the Jamberry conference at a Disney resort in 2016. We were all advised many times before the event that we were not allowed to give out samples or attempt to sell or recruit on the hotel grounds as well as any of the parks or we may be kicked out of our hotel.

The reason these companies officially wait until you are 18 is because in most states in the US, contracts with those 17 and younger are voidable, as people under 18 are not considered capable of entering into a contract. They might sign up and do well, but they could not be bound to any of the terms if they just wanted to walk away, so the risk is too high to the upline.

A hun from Market America pitched me pads that were “created by a doctor who’s wife died of cancer (maybe ovarian, I don’t remember) because she used regular store bought products “ . They were better bc were “individually wrapped “ and free of chemicals. Also she recommended panty liners to be put in the shoes to detox the feet!
@helenr4300 Жыл бұрын
wow. I know there is the eco approach to menstruation, but frankly here in the UK the mass market single use products all come 'individually wrapped' So what did this product offer that was different? I get repeated youtube/facebook adverts for the 'detox' pads for feet, just because they change colour does not mean that your liver is not doing all the work you need regarding detoxing.

I have not seen a traditional pad not be individually wrapped ?? Was this in the last 40 years? Genuine question, not snark.
@helenr4300 Жыл бұрын
@@PaigeAshleighB probably in the last 20 in UK. My first purchases as a teen were not, but pretty soon after were - the idea being that the wrapper from the new can be used to wrap the used before putting in bin

In reference to the last story, and Hanna’s comments about recruiting preferences. I got sucked into an mlm a few years back and was always told that “inviting” absolutely everyone to the “opportunity” is essential because it’s a numbers game. Most will say no, a few will sign up and every once in a while you’ll luck into a “unicorn” (yes they called it that). A person who is all-in and successful at recruiting too. 🤮
