They sing while filming but they overlay the recorded audio. So you are hearing a studio recorded version of the song but it looks real because the actors were singing along while filming

@@ElishaaLi Actually not entirely! If you listen to the soundtrack the songs sound very different than what they sound like in the show. What they did instead of just overlaying it was mix the best parts from the live audio from the recording with the best parts of the studio recording so that we not only get a completely different feeling for all of the songs and get to hear the individual instruments more, but also so that we as an audience feel more connected to them. This is one of the reasons why Luke’s guitar solo from Edge of Great wasn’t in the official soundtrack, Charlie came up with it on set after the soundtrack was recorded and Kenny felt it was too good to not include in the show :)

She probably just said that because it is pretty standard for artists to lip sing for videos since they have to record for so long in the day, it helps to stop them from over using their voices. Unlike other people they don't do that and she just didn't know.

@@GrayeWolfe that happened to Luke’s actor kinda he got sick when recording one of the songs for that week cause they were performing all the episodes songs each week with so many takes then he got sick and couldn’t sing for a week and that had to postpone his part. Also they went to an intensive 6 week bootcamp and before even getting on the show had 3 auditions 1 with lines ( acting ) , 1 with instruments and singing and then on set they had to sing acepella so they can sing otherwise they wouldn’t have gotten the part ( they say all this in the Netflix extras ) so no lip synching was done in recording only over their prerecorded tracks of them actually singing for filming purposes

You said around 3:20 that it looks comfortable even though she’s lip syncing, but most of the time she actually sings along live to the recording playing during the scenes to give it a more real feel. I’ve seen a video of her performing the first song of the series from episode 1 Wake Up. She sings live to it FLAWLESSLY (she sounds exactly like the recording) and they have the recorded version in the background obviously for the episode audio quality. She’s incredible 🥺💖 Also I LOVE these videos you do of JATP 💞💞

The next show you should do is Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist!!! It's about this girl who is a coder in San Francisco and one day when she was getting a MRI a earthquake happens and because she was listening to music while getting the MRI done she can now hear people's thoughts through songs. But they aren't original songs they are songs that already excist. Like Posion, Bye Bye Bye, Crazy, 500 Miles, and a lot more songs. Season 1 is already out on Peacock and season 2 comes on every Tuesday on NBC. Totally 100% recommend it!!!

I just realized MMBOP came out two years after the boys died....I was gonna say I can absolutely see Alex having a crush on them and stealing their hairstyle but I guess that doesn’t work lol. Also yes, you can absolutely ship Julie and Luke lol. The characters are not the actors...if they were the show would be very different because in real life Madison and Charlie have a major brother-sister vibe. But their chemistry in character is undeniable!
