When he got back, the demons had invaded Earth, so he went there to kill more demons and found out they'd killed his pet bunny, which made the demon slaying more personal. After repelling the invasion, he went to hell and decided to stay there to kill demons forever to make sure it never happened again (the path of perpetual torment). After that I think he got picked up by the Night Sentinels, got their training and went on to kill more demons before getting imprisoned, for like, a long ass time, leading to Doom 2016 and then Doom: Eternal.

I love how Doom Guy is canon in this series, and that they tell stories of how he fucking went on a killing spree through Hell and can just casually fall asleep to it. Like, it asks so many questions. Lucia started reciting the book without even actually reading it anymore, but it doesn't seem she's just read it so many times that she's memorized it because of how passionately she got into it. It seems like a story she was PRESENT for, or was at least excited to say because she was involved in the story itself. If Satina can just casually fall asleep to it, is that because Doom Guy is gone and thus not actually something to be afraid of? After Doom Guy fucked up all of Hell and everything in-between, was this new model of Hell with divisions and shit (Lucia being the Head of the North American division) created under his vision or did he allow it to be formed? Did he just finally die off from old age after a while, despite his rage? Or did he just walk off, never to be seen again after his crusade...? The story Lucia told is kind of a glorification of the Doom Slayer. As the Demon Queen of the North American division of Hell, wouldn't Doom Slayer be.. Like.. Her worst nightmare/enemy? Why is the story told in such a way? That would be like hearing a tale about how dangerous, lethal, and powerful the Soviet Union is in America. You'd much rather belittle them and call them stupid or something than make them seem like some undefeatable foe. That is, unless you became friends or something with that foe. Perhaps, even... More than friends? Yeah, that's right. I'm implying that Dave, Satina's Father, is Doom Guy after retirement. FIGHT ME. Note: It would also kind of explain Lucia and Dave's separation. Dave was all rage and demon murder back then, and Lucia fell in love with THAT person. When he finally put the whole slayin' doom thing behind him, he changed into a more ordinary person. Less rage (in the sheets ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) ) and everything, just much more calm and down-to-earth. She fell out of love with him and boom. Seperated.

The Underboss -- sure we can play with that idea until further info. But I’m tempted to think this hell is more of a subsistence bottom feeder to the suffering and evil that morals inflict on each other instead of creating it- which could explain why there are not many higher level daemons in this hell (until further clarification) and those higher level demons, satina and Lucia, use magic and are relegated to the boring job of oversight on this subsistence hell. Not to mention their very human traits. Under this model, and until further info, Lucia is fascinated more by carnage and visceral emotion but not at the risk of life or stability. And yes, if the doom slayer can fully eradicated hell, he would gladly render them impotent and trapped in their own dump of a dimension.
