@tanimaheshwari53105 ай бұрын
@@jacque9929 I’m a very new crocheter too. What I did was make two rectangles where the height is from the bottom of the top to where I want the armhole to start & width is the distance between the front and back of the top when I put it on my body. Then connected the two sides of the rectangle to the front and back side by seaming them together. This creates space for the armhole! Sorry if the explanation is confusing & lemme know if you have any questions!

Im done ;( I have no idea why when I chain 36 chains (that was the length if my shoulder) after I made double chrochets this length in my first row become much chorter. I don't get it it is so frustreting. I don't think you have added some chains to your foundation chain at the behining. Can you help me to figure out what I have done wrong?
@marketarychtarikova19493 ай бұрын
It depends on the yarn, I always had to chain less because my panel came out so big. You should try to chain little more than your shoulder length (without stretching the chain, you might be stretching it when you put it against your shoulders and so you think you need only 36 but for the right width of the top there should be more) was this the issue?
@jadeharley86402 ай бұрын
The measurements in the video are for a small/medium sized top and she did 56 chains for the foundation. If you're using a similar weight yarn and hook size, 36 chains is probably way too short in the first place. 😅 If that's not the issue, are you adding a chain between each DC? If you're skipping that step, it may make the length of your panel shorter.

Thank you for uploading your idea for a top but your measurements are not accurate... It's very difficult to understand how to adjust sizing, I sadly gave up after making the back as it didn't appear to fit in the same way as the picture but good luck it your endeavours!!
@sierrapeterson24093 ай бұрын
That is kind of the struggle when making crochet clothes, but part of it is applying your own measurements to the pattern. Of course her measurements won’t work on you exactly and the back panel can be adjusted by adding or subtracting chains from the beginning as well as adding or subtracting the number of rows. Most crochet clothes patterns will require some personal adjustments.
@jadeharley86402 ай бұрын
@@sierrapeterson2409 Her measurements are very vague and make it harder to make the necessary adjustments in the first place. I don't think she even mentioned what size top her pattern will make; I only figured out it's small/medium after I tried to adjust several times, failed, and just remade it with the exact stitch lengths she used in the video. 😅

Just finished making this! I also added the scalloped edge all across the back of the top, so instead of cutting and reattaching the yarn i just continued around! I love the pattern but a little bit less from shoulder to shoulder didn't work for mine and it ended up too tight. I would recommend to measure from your back shoulder to shoulder and don't make it any shorter.
@neamhcridhe64753 ай бұрын
it also depends on the type of yarn used and how tight or loose your tension is as to how wide to make it, but yes, always measure so that you have a baseline just in case. since i make doll clothes, i am always putting it on the doll as i go because most of my stuff i make is pattern-less.
