Hi Hannah. I am so sorry to hear this. As a result of your experience, if you feel like you never want to set foot in a Greek house again, then I completely understand. You do you, because you are awesome. But if I may venture some entirely unsolicited advice: I was in a very similar position as you were when I was at Dartmouth. Like you, I was studying science/engineering, terribly anxious, and had a bad experience in a greek house that left me 100% convinced I never wanted to set foot in one again. Then something happened my junior year: I found Phi Tau. Phi Tau is the barn-like building with the blue door just north of Kemeny. If you've seen signs around campus for "Milque and Cookies", that's us. The people I met at Phi Tau were so supportive, positive, and self-affirming that they are still my best friends to this day. I ended up rushing my junior year, and it filled so many things that were missing from my Dartmouth experience. It is just so incredibly different from other greek institutions, not the least bit because it is: 1) Co-ed/gender-inclusive. 2) Not nationally affiliated (i.e. it's self-governing) 3) Zero pressure to drink. Ever. So have fun at MIT, and when you get back, if you decide to give greek life at Dartmouth another chance, consider knocking on Phi Tau's door, and seeing if we are more your type of people. Because greek life should be an affirmation of who you are, not a challenge to it! MIT > Harvard kzbin.info/www/bejne/fnWVoKqBl9ugmck

@irock5504 жыл бұрын
your specific word choice when you said you felt blinded for a year and you neglected to see the bad things about Dartmouth was just so relatable for me because I LOVED this school and then got rejected and then I realized all of the problematic things that I really didn't like but I pushed to the side and I realized it was really not the best thing for me however I did not actually get to go!!!! I'm so sorry that you had such a negative experience rushing as well because I know I would have struggled with exactly the same complications as you. I hope everything works out for you!
