Today we deliberately tried out the most popular restaurants in Old Quarter! (Among tourists, of course). All these places have amazing google reviews, and after getting an amazing local food tour from ‪@ducanhhaman‬, we just had to find out if these tourist places hold up to their reputation! (and price).

0:00 - Intro
0:21 - 📍 Bún Bò Nam Bộ Bách Phương
73-75 Hàng Điếu, Cửa Đông, Hoàn Kiếm, Hà Nội, Vietnam
💬 Bun Bo Nam Bo is fun to say and fun to eat. Peanut beef noodle salad, coated in lime, fish sauce and chilli sauce. Yum!
2:40 - 📍 Phở bò gia truyền
2RMW+8RF, P. Bát Đàn, Cửa Đông, Hoàn Kiếm, Hà Nội, Vietnam
💬 Their broth is super rich and sweet! If you like rich broth, we would recommend this place :)
5:21 - 📍Banh Mi 25
25 P. Hàng Cá, Hàng Bồ, Hoàn Kiếm, Hà Nội, Vietnam
💬 Very friendly owner that modernized Banh Mi, making it easier for foreigners to try!
6:52 - Coffee & Chat
9:32 - Salt Coffee
Once again, thanks for watching and we hope to see you next time!

The Salted Coffee is quite a newly popularised addition to an already diverse coffee scene in Vietnam. It might have originated from Hue as some say it was a common drink there since 10 years ago.

I recommend you go to the southern region of Vietnam for food. Saigon foods are more diverse and serve with more veggies and herbs than Northern regions. A few thing to try beside pho. - Com Tam - Bun Mam - Bun Thit Nuong - Bun Bo Hue (a true vietnam national dish, not the pho) - Banh Xeo - Banh Cuon

I think we've had some of the food you've listed here (you will see in later videos!) but YES! that is our plan. We are definitely coming back to Vietnam (and this time Southern area), but we don't know where to go exactly. Not sure if ho chi minh city is the best place for food. any ideas?

@@MarkandElly_eats Saigon is definitely the city in southern Vietnam to visit for the best food. Hanoi has the best pho & bun cha, and Saigon has the best everything else. Check out Chris Lewis & Max McFarland for ideas.

"not a lot of places smile here". LOL that's very true, it's nothing personal, it's just their customer service culture. Very stern and no BS. Even people from southern Vietnam are not used to this northern style :D

I always no matter where I am what country I’m in I always go where the local people recommend and or I never use Google because Google reviews are from people that don’t live nor eat the food regularly to know if it’s good or not

i 1000% agree with you. I try to find some local spots first before resorting to google review. but sometimes its hard because i dont speak the language. for this reason, we are actually developing a food review website for travelers. hopefully we can launch it by this year!

Duuuma Pho Bat Dan is the best pho I’ve ever eaten. Did you add the pickled garlic & spicy peppers? I’ll be back in Hanoi next month. That’ll be the first restaurant that I hit up. Good thing you went at night when there’s no line. That place is nuts at 6am.
