Excellent review. Nice to watch you working. As to vendors...I found ONE source in the UK that had the right hand knife in stock. As I completely agree with the one tool option concept (Now if I could just follow it!) I placed an order and this little beauty should be here soon. I have many chip knives and Sloyd knives...a number of which I've handled myself. So with my other recent purchase - a Robin Wood Carving Axe - I should be well tooled. Again - thanks.

Thanks for the recommendation! I just have the Mora 162 but it's double-sided and sometimes I cut myself. Now I'm thinking about buing either the Hans Karlsson or the Svante Djärv hook knife.

Martin E. Böttcher in my opinion the karlsson is the best production forged hook out there and I even prefer it over most of my customs...cheers

Hi. I’ve just invested in a Hans Karlsson hook knife. The sharpening videos out there are confusing me. I know that with a hollow ground blade you sharpen from the inside but would you sharpen from the inside with a Hans Karlsson? I wonder if you could point me in the right direction for sharpening this particular blade, please? R. Wood advocates just sharpening on the outside of his hook knives but that’s not working well for me. I’d really appreciate some advice as I’m confused about this and don’t want to screw up my new HK. Thank you!

Hey there! Karlsson was my first hook over 10 years ago and I've since of course come out with my own tool line and a course page with over 100 hours of content. You get full access to it via this link for just 5 bucks for an entire month. It has over 10 hours of tool sharpening videos alone. Axe, slöjd and hook knife strategies. Well worth the investment! boon.tv/woodsmansfinest?promo=5bucksforamonth

Do you have any tips/videos on sharpening this tool? I have some small lines when using mine now and I can see the edge has some marks. I'm wondering what technique you use to sharpen this? Thanks Max :)
