I dont know what is the problem here but it does seem the etymological difference ain't that serious as you are trying to manifest, in English words like demolition, annihilation and extermination carrying the same exact same connotation and they can be used synonymously

@@Philopantheon82 No. One exterminates an insect hive, but demolishes a building, so there are contexts where the difference is meaningful.

@nichm7318 13 сағат бұрын
After all, we still call it chess after the legendary John Chess. I get where you're coming from, but Fischer abandoned the game in favor of making his legacy grotesque. Not saying that institutions don't associate with the name, but you should be able to see why many wouldn't want to. It's all brand risk, and not much reward, as he was never as popular as chess media insists, just popular amongst the cohort.

I don't like chess960, but people who know say that GMs scramble to put their pieces into positions that they feel comfortable with. So early game isn't about making the best move, because it's likely they don't know what it is; it's about moving their pieces quickly to create a board they can make sense of.

@ nobody believes the beads now that Hans has proven himself many times OTB. That’s what makes the beads joke so funny - it’s a typical Gen Z way of making a mockery of everyone and everything. Yes, Magnus was a crybaby about the whole thing. And Hans is an unsavory ‘bad boy’ of chess. And the fans are mocked too, b/c we care so much about such silly things as two adults pushing wood as a career. It’s all “nonsense”, to use your word. And therein lies the rub.

Your not convinced Hans cheated when he beat Carlson with black because Carlson played a terrible game and because Carlson had zero evidence for his (and Nepo's and Hikaru's) defamatory claims.
@tongpoo8985
@tongpoo8985 17 сағат бұрын
I believed it at the time, and I still have my suspicions given the fact that he cheated for prize money tournaments a couple years prior, and because statistically it was the first time Magnus had lost to someone around Hans' rating as black in many years. But, given that Hans has cemented himself as one of the current best in the world, and given that Magnus is so bad at handling defeat, I now have no opinion one way or the other.
@kimguy4159

@@tongpoo8985 so what if Magnus lost? He played lousy against an emerging star. Like Kasparov and Karpov and Fisher before him, Carlsen got old and a little bit crazy ad started to lose. The rest of your claims against Hans have zero evidence, just smears. They say more about the lowlife saying it, than saying anything about Hans
@columkenn
@columkenn 16 сағат бұрын
@@tongpoo8985 I think it was more like 7 years earlier that Hans cheated online. He was 12yo as I understand it. Cheating over the board is quite different from online cheating from your own home. We all know there is so much lies and fakery online that few would trust online events anyway. And he was only a child. We all did dumb stuff at that age. The infamous match 2 years ago, I think if they really suspected him of cheating it should have been very easy to catch him as they were watching him over the board. Without any evidence whatsoever I think it was very wrong to make accusations of cheating. You have to accept defeat graciously unless you have something strong to go on. Magnus's only reason for being suspicious was that he lost the match. That's being a bad loser, undignified. The others who have also suggested or accused Hans of cheating in the same match are even worse, it seems they are only making those accusations to win favour from Magnus. That's really pathetic when they have ZERO evidence to support cheating accusations
