@@CaptCondor I think Zimmer has a few scores that are really really good, like Interstellar or Gladiator for example. On the hand, thopugh, you could say he has singlehandedly ruined the current generation of film music. There are so many composers that copy his style, that most mainstream movies are filled with meaningless pompus and "epic" music. Zimmer is good, but I think others like Alexandre Desplat for example are better.

My favorite score he ever created was for Interstellar, it played such a big role in this movie. The way he let his music tell the story, with time ticking by, emotions flowing in the tunes and the swelling whenever there’s a huge reveal, I absolutely love that. And the combination of instruments he used is just so creative and amazing. I think the score for that movie is so underrated and should definitely get more recognition, because they made that movie what it is and the soundtrack is one of the biggest reasons I get back to Interstellar every time I open Netflix. The story was a masterpiece and it’s value was doubled by the beautiful score.

@@khanch.6807 Well technically Germans have both. Back when Mozart was alive Germany as a country didn't exist. So to be German meant to share certain values. It was a identity. Many people identified as Germans. Example: during and for a short time after the war against Napoleon Austrians called themselves German. Mozart was Bavarian and German. Nowadays his place of birth is in Austria but that doesn't change Mozart's history. Hans Zimmer was born in Frankfurt. To sum it up, both Mozart was German and Zimmer is a German citizen

The deeply personal, human creative process, incapsulated in your comments. Self-doubt and ones inner thoughts are both the harshest and loudest critic. ‘We can all sing, it’s what the rest of the world thinks that matters ultimately though.’ By; me ;)

It's still a travesty that Hans didn't win best score for Interstellar. That score was 50% of the movie. Without Zimmer I don't know if it even conveys the message properly or the same way.

it does not. I watch the movie for the music only.

It is a travesty. Such a powerful score. Visceral and beautiful. I listened to just the score months on cd. Of course the picture is a modern masterpiece.

I think the award is meant to honor the score that best served the film and I think that HZ's music is very selfish and it's like he's telling the story his own way. Personally I think the movie and music are masterpieces but they feel like two great separate masterpieces. I don't know if that makes sense, anyway that score could probably bring an MMA fighter to tears so they could have given him the award anyway

'it's like he's telling the story his own way" That's his job!!! . He wasn't given the script for the film . He was only given a brief outline of the man and daughter story. It served the film and affected millions.

Spencer Kelly Thank you! Alexandra Desplat was good but Hans Zimmer was way better!

I love how most of these start out with Hans Zimmer being so skeptical of the movie and then he creates some of the best film scores of all time. My favorite film composer hands down.

Dudes saying he hasn't found "the one," when he's done the lion king, the pirates of the Caribbean, batman, inception, interstellar, kung fu panda, etc. Hans Zimmer is the most iconic movie composer on earth, hands down.

@Jonny E Mothers like to tell their children what to do. Sort of what directors do

@Jonny E when the director showed up in the early morning & claimed he is a director. Hans replied with slight disdain that his mother is also a director. Sort of saying i don't believe you, go away, i need to sleep. I mean it’s not funny like you would laugh out loud but defo humorous imo

Jonny E kind of like responding to something unbelievable with “yeah and I’m the King of England” or something similar, he was claiming that his mother was a director as much as this guy apparently was, which she isn’t
