After hearing several recordings on KZbin, this performance is the best. Ashley plays this with AUTHORITY! Phrasing is good. In the locations where it is LEGATO, she plays it as such. And in the areas where it is supposed to be SPIRITED, she plays it as such. EXCELLENT continuity of AIR in order to generate such good phrasing. BRAVO !!

Important composition being the first Sonata composed for cornet & piano around 1900 I believe. I enjoy the spirit of performer Ashley Hall. From the point of the cornet sound I find it rather bright. This might be due to the choice of mouthpiece. In Europe and particular in England deeper mouthpiece cups are used which gives more mellow sound. Of course this is a matter of taste but I would like a less direct approach. To me this could also be played on trumpet. Interesting to know how people would like the sound of a cornet to be!? Kind regards from The Netherlands, Theo Hartman trumpeter

I love the expression and bright tone! Fabulous playing! I'm playing this piece for an audition, and to say I can play it well is an overstatement... I'll keep working though! I aspire to be a player like you!

Bravo! Love the way you were able to change the color and shade your sound in the second movement. Rhythmic accuracy and authoritative articulation really made the outer movements pop. Wish I could have heard that live.

Nice performance, but I prefer the "english sound" of the cornet, this sound is too close to the trumpet. ;-) But it remains musically amazing!
