right,the 90s boy bands were not drug addicts showing off girls on their videos, but i think hanson was very different from the hit bands stule then, and few girls had good music appreciation then,their lyrics are so smart their music is super original.. i like their sound, i used to listen to them a lot

I agree. It bothers me that they get called a boy band. They are an actual band, not a pop group. And they seem to get put in the same category as backstreet boys and 'n sync and it's ridiculous. Those are pop groups. Hanson is a BAND. they write and play their own music. I wish people would see how much better they are than the pop groups they get categorized with

What always impressed me about Hanson, is they wrote all their songs. Even MMMBop, which you’d swear was one of those songs written by a studio that the artists have to play, they wrote that song. This sophomore album was excellent and showed their growth and maturity. They should have been recognized more and appreciated for just how talented they were.

I remember hearing "MMMBop" the year I graduated high school (1997...the last year for good music in the 90's). I remember hearing it on the radio and thinking to myself, "Damn; this is really good." Then I got my hands on the CD "Middle Of Nowhere", and found myself captivated by their vocals AND instrumentation (between the three, they played six instruments). The fact that they wrote or co-wrote everything speaks volumes about how they took their music seriously. And the disc holds up even now, nearly two decades later. The level of craftsmanship, hard work (on both the part of them and their production team, Stephen Lironi/The Dust Brothers), and brilliant writing reveals an understated yet classy pop gem. Too bad that, by and large, pop music don't sound or feel this good anymore.
@silverpilot197910 жыл бұрын
First off, I hope and PRAY you're being sarcastic. With that said...CD's were bought and sold in droves throughout the mid 80's. As CD players became more commonplace (and prices decreased with the advent of, say, the portable Sony Walkman; I still have one), CD's became hugely popular. They're still sold. Cassette tapes were not the only form of recordable media.

Their first two studio albums went platinum, the third one that includes the song I'm referring to went gold and they haven't had a gold studio album since. I'm amazed at the talent of these young men, still today. They can outperform several big names in the industry. They compose, they play multiple instruments, they have extensive range, a very diverse repertoire. Truly born gifted. If i play "This Time Around" for anyone, they NEVER, guess Hanson. They are like, woah, awesome song, sound, performance.... They watch the video, & don't recognize the grown up young gorgeous men, with great hair! I'm showing guys this video & song. (The girls always know who they are). The guys love the performance & song. When they can't guess, & I say it's Hanson, they get totally bent. They get mad, because they totally love the sound & song. But they don't want to hear it's Hanson. They get totally embarrassed. Lol. They are still jealous! Lol

I can still remember the days when I had to hurry up and get home and do my homework to catch the playlist on MTV back then. All you could do was record on VHS and get the CD. There was no KZbin yet where you could watch the video. It wasn't at your fingertips then. You had to rely on interviews and magazines to see them. Opening the CD covers and taping it to your wall lol. I think younger generations will never know that feeling. It's kind of sad for them because now they have instant gratification. And it takes the fun out of everything. Everything is too exposed. Especially celebrities

kommisar - Yeah but back then there were no online stores lol. Also it's great having a hard copy with all the artwork and lyric/picture collages in the pamphlet. Some CD stores did have a pair of headphones for sampling, I know for a fact Barns N Nobles and Best Buy would let you do that. As far as the local CD stores, I usually came in knowing what I wanted so that didn't matter

I do not why, KZbin show me some video from Hanson, for some reason I clicked, Now I have seen interviews, music videos, listening to new/ old music, they are so great, I recommend to watch the strings theory video, I respect that they stay true to themselves and make good music

Completely forgot this song... it was great then, and still hits just right. That tends to be the case when music comes from a place of genuine talent.

What an epic music video. I gotta admit I didn’t appreciate them when I was in my teens. But I def appreciate them now as an adult. Great song and voices

I was born in 1998 and I am so jealous of you millennials who got to live through this time period, most people my age are obsessed with the 90s/2000's

Not bad. I've only been listening to their middle of nowhere music videos, never branched out to their newer songs when they were older. I guess back then I didn't want to watch their newer videos because I thought Zac didn't look so cute but watching this video in 2016 he still catches my eye even though he's not 12 anymore. Taylor looks really good in this video as well. Hanson forever!!!

I love Hanson's work in 1999, but I love 2019 Hanson more. Watching this 20 years later makes me see how marketed they were back then, compared to how genuine they are now.
@jennifervaughan26884 жыл бұрын
D I love them now too and believe they were just as genuine then. More money and power behind their production machine then maybe, but they’ve always been who they are.
