Now if I was Jewish, I'd have that much stuff for Hanukkah. I love blue and lights. I am over the top for every season and holiday. My husband and son's are dreading getting all of our Christmas decorations out. I love fall but don't celebrate Halloween. I have 150 pumpkins displayed rather beautifully in my home. Congrats on baby Zachary. He's a beautiful banana and you're such a caring mom. Oh and I'm over the top wrapping presents too.

My family is not Jewish, but my Mom always made sure we knew and respected other cultures and even adopted some things! Now, we give gelt to the kids in my family and always watch Lambchop's hanukkah special during the season every year. My mom loves the classic hanukkah colors so we always had blue and white lights on our house. I love how open you are about your culture and religion- it's beautiful and we need more of that in our world 💙

I'm so glad you decorate for Hannukah. I know many Jewish Families who do not! If I celebrated I would decorate a lot! Its a fun Holiday filled with enormous meaning! We keep our holidays simple. We want our holidays to focus on family, food, meaning, and some fun. Definitely not about stuff. I love giving gifts of homemade food. In some cases we go with foods that are already prepared for various reasons. My favorite holiday tradition is to make a pot of spices and citruses. We write on bay leaves things like love, peace, hope, health to add to this pot. Then i simmer it and the entire house smells so good as it blesses all with our prayers. Another thing we love to do is gather arond our fire pit and pass foods around, then make gourmet s'mores. I do as little stuff buying as possible. Now that my children are all adults we often go camping on holidays or special times. For us nothing beats this.

I just love your videos. I was so happy to go to the store and find Hanukkah decorations. Not many stores have them unfortunately. But the little I found I’m making the most of it. I couldn’t find Hanukkah wrapping paper in the store so I bought a generic blue one with snow flakes and stars. Nothing else.

I was hormonal, sleep deprived , and that made for a crazy holiday. I thought that the gifts that you wrapped looked beautiful! I wish I was good at that. I also find that I enjoy gift wrapping as you do. I believe that it's just as important as what is in the inside, the outside decoration and details mean alot to me and hopefully to those who recieve my gifts as well. The bows, flowers, pine cones, leaves, ribbons or whatever is used to decorate the gift entails of how much the recipient means to me and I hope it reflects in their hearts as they hold and gaze upon the gift too. In addition, while gift wrapping and decorating the gift, I think about that person and pray for them as I am decorating their gift. I guess that's why it's such a joy to decorate gifts. . .I guess that's why I spend a little more time decorating to think of them with every detail in the decorations. I also take time to pray especially for them in the process: that's truly the gift, a blessing, an opportunity to pray for someone and not just give them a gift but your time, your thoughts of them thru prayer and hope to shed light in their life in the simplest way of decorating the gift with them in mind and @ heart. I use and recycle little things here and there around the house to decorate the gifts sometimes I used herbs from my garden like Rosemary 🌿 It's really a joy and even becomes a family affair as well.

One thing we do is choose one type of wrapping child per child. So you do not need tags. I have a boy and a girl. So I do boy themed paler for him and girl for my daughter. But if I had same gender kids, I would chose one paper per chi!d. I love toppers too

For some strange reason my kids love to eat latkes and have chocolate coins through Hanukkah. I do it for them envisage they love it but my husband thinks I am nuts because we are Catholic. I swear one day I will buy a menorah because my daughter would Love to light the candles

Incredible that you have a newborn& you’re accomplishing so much while still recuperating. Just a thought about candles for the menorah. Have you ever tried the gel oil that comes in glass globes? The menorah stays clean and you avoid the wax from candles dripping on your beautiful menorah. A freilichin Chanukah!!

It will be a low key Hanukkah this year. We aren’t going to be able to decorate this year since I have surgery scheduled during Hanukkah. Decorating will just be too much for this year. I will tune in to the Hanukkah service from my shul on Facebook live which will be a great distraction! I can’t wait to see everyone and be able to sing with them.

My parents never decorated for Hanukkah. I occasionally got a pencil when my dad found out that my Jewish friends got presents. We lit candles every year.

No; decorating for Chanukah isn’t really a “thing”. But there’s no reason to not do it. When I was a kid we would get some dimes to play dreidel. Lighting the menorah, playing dreidel, and eating latkes was how we celebrated. When my kids were growing up, they got one “nicer” gift, and very small things the other nights. I only did that because there was a very small Jewish community, and that put more pressure on parents. I tried hard to keep it into perspective, as in the scheme of things, it’s a minor holiday. Now I have grandchildren, but one parent isn’t Jewish. I get the kids 8 presents, but only one is something they asked for. I choose everything else, and they are not all big gifts. I want them to understand what Chanukah is, and to not equate it with Christmas. Their other grandparents are free to do that. I am teaching them Judaism, and am thankful that my participation is valued and appreciated.

I do enjoy wrapping Christmas (in my case presents) Oh I know I’m completely extra. I buy coordinating wrapping paper but each person I’m buying gifts for gets their own pattern so I can very easily tell who’s gift belongs to who even across the room.

If so which one? I’m considering driving down to LA this week anyway. I’m making some of my own decor, ( Just got a Cricut machine! 😜) but would LOVE more options. Btw, why don’t you frame that letter you love so much? I’d take some blue Magen David print wrapping or scrapbook paper and use it as the background & mount the letter on top of it. I usually get a lot inspiration that doesn't come to fruition,so I'm not trying too hard this year. One year l saw a skit on tv of a deer shaking snow from his antlers like scattering gems of snow ❄️ that was more winter wonderland than Christmas. It stuck in my mind ,and I've since been inspired by "snow gem 💎 " themes of pearls, sapphire,ice blue gems. Another one is snow rolls from $store. I remember seeing someone point out a snowflake that looked like star of David ❄️✡️.l love the ice blue,star of David snowflake themes . Someone sent a picture of their hanukkah deco to a magazine - silver spray painted driftwood hanukkiahs, tealights in groups of 8/9. I couldn't find the size of tealight /shot glass holder l wanted to replicate this. There's the classical navy and silver,or priestly blue and white,and of course hanukkiah,gelt gold with velvet deep blue...dark colors for 'warmth' in winter. Sometimes flame color inspired,or festive color. Confetti on black with color fusing forth, for de-absorbed " tree of Life" hanukkiah out of darkness effect. Temple theme hanukkah in mural on glass design... Hanukkiah out of molded ice with battery lights in the snow. Abstract art hanukkiah... Do you think solar system hanukkiah/days of creation menorah out of glass "ornament balls" is too similar to the actual representation of the round ornaments?,had to wonder , can't find any at Michaels that aren't plastic anyhow. A Canadian living magazine from the 80's had 🔯 star butter cookies with silver nonpareil arranged 6 in the center,3 on each point,set out on a tier tray - looked elegant. Hanukkah theme quilts, cocoa butter chocolate gelt soaps,beauty oils,etc. I get lots of ideas l don't get around to. Would like to see what someone else would do with them. Well you did packaging really well. Mantel is festive. You are doing great for 2 weeks after a birth. Sometimes I was filled with every and got in to organizing or decorating for a holiday or just moving things around to hopefully highlight some nice things I owned. Oh, Honey!!! It made me sad to see you struggling to 'aim high' 2 weeks post partum. PLEASE don't do that to yourself! We would have all been happy to watch old montage footage of previous years, and some snaps of whatever got done. And whatever wasn't done, we could all empathize, cry together and eat gelt. If you want your decor to look different, add some baubles. I really do NOT LIKE the silver & blue color scheme of Hanukkah at all. I am not a fan of cool colors in the home ( but someone else bristles at anything that looks to “ Christmas-y” i.e. any other colors. But I have plenty of gold round ornaments, bows, ribbon, stars etc and LIGHTS!!! But I’d really love to do a garland full of gold and a few blue ornaments and perhaps some dreidels if I could find some. Maybe even little Jewish people ornaments. I’m all for changing it up.

Shalom Aleichem my sister. I think I should say by the way of kindly constructive criticism that I have never seen a mention of Hashem in your videos or gratefulness for His goodness to you. Instead, you come off as being a bit too rich, privileged, loved and entitled - especially when condemning your gorgeous fireplace: “I just don’t like it.” There are many people who will never have a fireplace like that to criticize. Perhaps instead of focusing on showing off how many wonderful gifts you can afford to buy, how about giving more emphasis to the goodness of The Creator who enabled you to have all of these fine things - the end to your celebrating. Instead of focusing on the gifts: perhaps focusing on the giver of all gifts, Hashem. The message I am getting from your videos is: look at me, how great I’m doing, how wonderful my home is and how much I have OVER OTHERS. There is never any mention of God, who seems to be left out in all of this. I don’t mean this unkindly. I just wish you would have included God in your videos and at least some thankfulness for how he has prospered you. Shalom.
