If you are into animated movies, "The Legend of Prince Rama" is an amazing anime styled movie based on Ramayana. It was a collaborative production between Japanese and Indian Production Companies. "Arjuna: The Warrior Prince" is another great animated Indian production based on Mahabharata. Edit: Unfortunately, the Indian Live Action Movie Industry has not matured enough in terms of storytelling and CGI/VFX to do justice to the mythological epics.

One movie was made on the epic Ramayana recently but that turned out to be terrible. Now, the only director we Indians believe that can pull off movies on our epics and do justice to them is S.S Rajamouli. Indian movie budget is always low because the ticket prices are extremely low. The audience is also not worldwide.

Unfortunately there's no Hollywood level depiction of the great Indian stories. Modern directors piss their pants to take up such big projects. We have high hopes and see huge potential in this director called SS Rajamouli. He is enroute to making Mahabharatam, which is his dream project, but that is like, a couple more years later. Please watch his movies such as Bahubali, RRR, Maghadheera, etc. He has also received an Oscar for a song in his last film, RRR. There are many old movies from 1900s, made on the epics of India. They are great story wise but do not have the big graphic depiction as we would expect in the current time.
