Looks nicely thought out and engineered.... Definitely a cruising, mapping machine.... You're going to need a cooling hole cutting in that plastic camera pod for the Walksnail VTX for sure. Interesting layout with clean lines and no linkages out in the breeze....Look forward to test flights...😏😏😀🇬🇧

Pretty nice looking airplane, Keith! 😃 I can't decide if it looks like something out of Star Trek or Star Wars, but I like it! Anyway, stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊

A very nicely design with many refined design points. Reminds me of "Zeta Sky Observer" that HobbyKing and others sold in the early FPV plane days. Pod on that Long Range stick look more like a dive submarine with half-dome ends. Was surprised the wingspan on Firefly only 1080 mm. The Sky Observer was 2 m. Think this shows more how much the hobby has advanced, with smaller/lighter camera gear, and better batteries. I do like the integrated metal gear servos, connectors, hatch designs. Really a nice rounded package. Heads up: beginning June 15, with the intro of U.S. tariffs (Section 301 guidelines announced May 14, 2024) on EVs, batteries, solar equipment, and chips/electronics from China, we can expect it will hit FPV gear shipped from China as well. Mentioning as tariffs begin at 25% this year, and depending on items will double to 50% in 2025. For lithium-ion EV batteries, tariffs will rise from 7.5% (currently) to 25% this year (or 2026 in some cases, but details not clear). Beyond FPV, products like e-bikes, solar generators, etc. will also be impacted.

Will be interesting to see the effects of a crosswind on the plane.
@Videolinquency8 ай бұрын
If you're referring to the large side area, it will actually have no effect on crosswind characteristics. Nerd tip: All planes fly in the same moving mass of air, whatever their shape. Many of us tend to think that our planes can tell the difference between upwind, downwind and crosswind when aloft, but in reality they have no idea what the ground does underneath them, and they don't care. This misconception is almost universal in RC, probably because we use the ground we stand on as our reference point, but it doesn't exist at all in full scale, where we're in the air with our craft. Use the air mass as your reference point, and your plane's behaviour will be a lot easier to predict at all times!

Interesting design. I'll be curious to see how it flies. I like the XT30 connectors on the FC, wonder if that reduced space for UARTs or if they managed to keep all of them

There's 6 UARTs available.

The quality and attention to details is VERY good, all the little touches here and there shows they really put a lot of care in the design. Also, it blows my mind how they are able to lower the price that much, around 250ish euros for a plane with a flight controller, gps, case, and some other miscellaneous, it's very well priced. I wonder if they send you the gimbal for the O3 with that package. There are however a couple of things that I wonder: 1) When landing it will tumble to one side for sure and hit a wingtip, I'm wondering how the plane is gonna hold up specially with that thin appendage connecting the wings to the lower body. With low speed landings i guess it shoud not be a problem but it needs some testing. Can't wait for the flight footage. Also, whenever you do it, could you include some stall testing? I'm always interested in those details but nobody does them in the review (on video). 2) Concerning the lower body, it certainty increases stability however it would be nice to see what happens with crosswinds, both light and heavy. Additionally, it seems to add a considerable amount of drag, I wonder if it would have been better to integrate it more to the wings instead of a hanging "appendage". It does have more room for the gimbal and stuff tho. 3) The servo connections, while they are really well made from what I could see in the video, replacing servos in the wings seems a bit difficult, but maybe it's not, never really used that mechanism. 4) Lastly, that flight controller seems veeeery weird, it looks VERY similar to the speedybee f405 wing on steroids, definitely love that they ship it all soldered. Testing it will determine whether it's good or not.

Isn't this just a foam copy of a plane already out there? I remember another plane that was larger and it flew like a brick! It is an interesting design either way.

ESC cooling could be a worry if you're right about the location - far, fast and low might not be a good idea on the maiden.

3 days left on KickStarter ! 1500 HK $ and I had thought about the value of 1 HK $ But 170€ would be nice , but then the shipping price for the pretty much same box increases from 400 to 700 HK$ and adds up. And strangely the shipping will be the same if you buy 2 of these at once. 1900 HK $ equals 224€ 6600 HK $ equals 780€ for the real system Right now a bit risky for a kick starter from China, evn though they announced to ship in June. 24 supporters so far. And I am not sure why they had to develope their own Hao Han flight controller board instead of getting a regular one of the shelf. But they have their own yt channel and lot of short snippets to give a deeper look inside. But I like the idea

The configuration is very compelling at first look, however a few shortcomings are apparent. The pod down below is vulnerable, and makes landing unstable, with the camera vulnerable. The single prop and motor, with the wing, tail and pylon behind it will not be as efficient due to small disk area, make marginal thrust (also due to low disk area), and have lots of slipstream effect, as well as draggy components right in the acclererated air slipstream. All of those are negatives. Wing looks like it's on the short side, which means a loss of efficiency and limits the weight that can be carried. This is another amateur young design team with little experience and making some erroneous assumptions right from the beginning IMO. However, it does have some potential, probably more that most, and it is compact, easily transportable, so those are good things.. and it will probably perform satisfactorily enough to be useful. this configuration has been tried before, with the Skua and Sky Observer, both of which flew better than this will, but still failed to gather a large enough following. Good to see you getting new products for review!
@stratos77558 ай бұрын
Considering that both Skua and Sky Observer are massive compared to this, I am not surprised that they aren't popular. This has a 1m wingspan and is easy to transport and store.
@FPVREVIEWS8 ай бұрын
@@stratos7755 performance is related to size, so I'm not sure why the planes have to be so tiny. My 3meter + span planes fit just fine in my compact car. I do notice that people at my local flying field can't be bothered to plug in their wings, and throw the planes in the car in one piece. But they also only fly for a few minutes.
@Double-D_2914 ай бұрын
What airframe/model would you recommend for maximum efficiency?
@FPVREVIEWS4 ай бұрын
@@Double-D_291 That depends. Efficiency doing what task? the design of the mission must dictate the aircraft design. Most good UAV's are designed for max distance. power consumption is balanced with ability to carry a larger battery, in order to be more effective at carrying a given payload for the greatest distance possible. In that case there are many, but the best ones will look something like a crosswind by MFD. For endurance, there are far less options, and again, low power consumption is a factor, but ability to carry a large battery is also. I designed the Gemini V2 to fill this need. This has good distance, but not as good as it could be. but has excellent endurance. Ability to stay airborne for extended periods of time. It also has as by-products of the design, great altitude potential, ability to carry very large loads, slow landing speeds and distances, and very stable. thick airfoil, high aspect ratio, large area of the wing, large disk area of the prop arcs, and long tail moment. it can stay up for over 4 hrs. others somewhat in this category might be the Believer, or XUAV clouds.

Perfect thank you. I was looking at powered gliders for long range fpv, something like the 2.4m Volantex Ranger. This is why I’m interested in the product but want to avoid Kickstarter. I’ll check out your other suggestions. Thanks again for your detailed reply!

If its new and being sold why then is there a kickstarter? scamming people much?
@HAOHANInnovation8 ай бұрын
Crowdfunding is currently one of our sales channels overseas. We expect to launch on Banggood in early June, and the crowdfunding price is an early bird discount. There are only 2 days left. You can think of Kickstarter as a way for us to conduct presales. You can choose not to believe it, but there's no need to say we're scamming people. We are a very legitimate and professional tech company. Our team members have previously worked at DJI and SF Express's drone division.
