Hap, I think the song is reflecting his whole life. Sent off by himself at 8 years old to India for school, only seeing his family once a year, friends of his, said early on, he would go to the corner of the dorm room at night and weep, but Freddie's future was formed there, he took piano lessons, art, did plays, became a boxer, and started his first band. Freddie said he became self-sufficient, which he needed later on because he and Roger went hungry often, they did ingenious things to survive while working on stardom. Freddie had a lot of ups and downs, always put on a happy face and moved forward. Freddie is really inspirational, not perfect, made mistakes, but he set a goal and did it. He told people he was going to be a Rockstar, they couldn't see it, this shy guy with bucked teeth, but wow Freddie became everything he dreamed of.

When Freddie sang "I know, I know, I know" he duplicated that line perfectly, as singing one "I know" , the second one then the 3rd time......exactly same pitch, flow, sound. Incredible. It was like one was sang and the studio dubbed in the second and third copying his sound, electronically. With Freddie's voice, they didn't have to. I hope that makes sense. In short, Freddie was once again a blessing to our hearts and ears. Thanks for the very thought provoking reaction. Nobody reacts like you! You and Freddie............you are both one of a kind. 👏👏 💕

This song is a real gem. Personally, I think the original is perfect, just like Freddie wanted it to be - so I rarely listen to this version, but it also has its bright moments, as you're pointing it out. For me it is a kind of "We are the Champions" story, about how he went through a lot of misery and defamation, but reaching "heaven" in the end. The two things, Freddie really suffered from were his love life (before it got better with Jim from 1985 on, but this song might have been written before), and the awful press which always spread a lot of hatred on him. Everything else he got along with. Even his illness, which he bravely never complained about. He loved his fans although he couldn't move normally anymore, and after the band got rid of the old hated manager in the mid 70's, they got along well with the business side of things.

Your reactions are great, I love queen's sound, Although i still prefer the solo version, It just feels very personal, Like it is a work of art by Freddie. This would've been a beast of song to sing live, Not that Queen's live setlist isn't already full of hard songs to sing And Freddie's persistent nodules would've been made this worse. For me, It was never the notes he hit in studio or live, It was always the way he interpret songs, whether he wrote it or not, He just makes every song he sings so special He is truly made in heaven ❤️

What a lovely comment a lady named Debra left below... this album shows us again how Freddie inspires us, with his music about life, about lookiing at ourselves through introspection, & yes, about death & graciously accepting it. His bravery is remarkable . And she pointed out that he achieved his dream, which I always try to focus on when I get hopelessly teary-eyed watching him strut around the stage ... the picture of health, knowing what was looming ahead of him. I think that knowledge that he HAD achieved his dream, above all helped him deal with his impending illness & death. And i was so glad to see someone else acknowledge the similarities between HAP & Freddie's sensibilities. He innately has such emotional perception of Freddie's intent, it's remarkable. I never expected to learn so much more about Freddie's perceived intentions, his revealing lyrics & his musical perfectionism as I have from his intuitive interpretation of what is akin to a soul mate of Freddie's . Two men who never quite met but think alike.

'they' are the doctors trying to help him with his aids..'no possibilities around'' ...there was no cure at that time ...'taking my ride with destiny' and 'willing to pay the price' ...he knew he had aids by now and knew his fate, and by the way, took that ride with courage and dignity...'painful memories' maybe being separated from his parents from the age and sent to boarding school in India for 8 years and being lonely...did didn't like to be alone...'made in heaven' refers to how everyone called his voice..greeting from Toronto

I think that Freddie is saying that all things that happen in our lives good or bad were all written in our book of life and our destiny was set in heaven. It seemed to me that Freddie always had a strong focus and because he seemed to know that this was how it would be, he made it so. Even in the beginning when he approached Brian and Roger and said that he was what they needed in their band, he had a vision for the band, a new name and attitude for the band and even a logo that he drew for the band. That is the way I personally see this song. I think he knew he was HIV+ at this time or figured he was because of his associates so that may factor into it as well. Freddie never complained about having AIDS, he just went on living his life until the end. He was a brave inspiration for all of us up to his passing and beyond.

I love how Freddie switches between those gentle head voice vocals and then also Belts in this song, Just shows what an amazing Singer he was and also how amazing his Voice is. I like the Queen version more because the Red Special sounds amazing in this, Brian also has a guitar solo in this version which makes it obviously better. But I do think the backbeat of the drums in Freddie's Solo album sounded better, here the backbeat just sounds a little low quality in my ears. I agree, the Who wants to live forever sounds would fit perfect into this song. It still sounds amazing tho, definitely deserved being the name of the album too. Great Reaction.

What's he talking about? What changed that really changed his approach to lyrics? My .02, and obviously we'll never know for sure, but I think at this point he knew he was HIV+ (or suspected), and at that time being so was a death sentence. So I think many of his later songs were written with the idea of his impending death. (Not trying to be depressing here, just my opinion.)
@HAP3SPEAKZ4 жыл бұрын
Somebody mentioned that this was wrote in 1984 but he was diagnosed in 1987. It's quite tough. 🤔
@bbbfst4 жыл бұрын
@@HAP3SPEAKZ Yes, he was diagnosed with Aids in 1987 -- Peter Freestone, his longtime personal assistant, friend, with him at the end, etc., said in an interview that when Freddie was diagnosed it was with Aids itself, not just being HIV+. My thinking -- based on various interviews with Freddie and others -- is that Freddie knew/suspected he was HIV+ by 1983 or 1984. As I said earlier, something we'll never know for sure, but it's what I think about a lot of his later lyrics.
@chicochi34 жыл бұрын
@@bbbfst I have heard speculation that he may have known he was HIV+ as early as 1982 which is when they made their last trip to the US. The band didn't know why, but they were told by management that it was because they weren't making any money in the US. And some blame was placed on MTV not playing their video for "I want to Break Free", but that was, I believe, in 1984. As a fan who attended their live shows, there wasn't any sign then of their not making money in the US. Just speculation that I've heard.
