Comparing every dark wave/post punk band that came after bands like Joy Division and The Cure is cliché at this point, but it also kinda sets a limiting standard for them. Hapax transcends all of those acts, and I'm not even sure how any of those artists sound like Hapax, other than a similarity to Ian Curtis in terms of vocals. Everything is influenced by and influences something else, but I feel like Hapax has more than earned acknowledgement as being one of a kind. We've all got our opinions though.
