No clue about anything said since I don't understand japanese, but cool demonstration of how a 3 phase interior perment magnet motor works. Easily understood even just visually. I'm also probably over looking what it's talking about but does it go over star vs Delta wiring as well from the looks of it?

it's a star configuration, since all coils are joined with the yellow ground wire and have one live wire each. If it was a delta config, each coil would have been connected to two live wires each, as well as to both it's neighbors

@@tobbleboii5988 I can't tell what's said, yes certainly star but I would assume you would talk about delta any time you mention star since it's mostly only used to start a 3phase motor, also I'm not sure if the initial configuration star or DOL? Common is common so does it matter if it's joined before or after entering the motor? Anyways even if I can't understand any of the words as i said looks fairly intuitive regardless

@@jaykoerner what's DOL? the common must be joined in the supply as well as in the motor, but you can get creative with how you actually go about that. using 3 ground wires between the supply and the motor is ineffective, so usually they're connected in the supply and the motor seperately. You then use a single wire to connect the common in supply and the common in the motor

@@tobbleboii5988 also I'm confused about you saying about needing to connect the commons in the motor to the commons in the supply for star-delta, for one delta doesn't even have a neutral to connect to since the phases don't have a chance to cancel with it's configuration, and star only has a neutral as a byproduct of the phases canceling out, and uses the other 2 phases to carry return current, yes you can connect the neutral for a star configuration but it's certainly not required other then for making sure it's not to far off the reffrence for ground, please note I'm talking about what works not what to do on a job, I certainly wouldn't wire a motor without a common but it will work

@@jaykoerner to be frank i never really understood why you'd need to connect the common to the motor, since it works just the same without it. Probably some obscure safety thing and you're right, obvously you don't need to connect the motor to com in delta, but you still need a com in the power supply since otherwise you'd have 3 unipolar power supplies, which doesn't work

you know that you did your job excelently when people that don't know a word in your language gets an acurate idea of what's happening and how things work.
It's a good video, but I did know all this; it's pretty much a standard all over Europe. It would be great to also measure the voltage between the common and a phase and compare that with the voltage between two phases. Eg. We call the common wire the "NUL", which is also connected to Earth. The voltage between NUL and a phase is usually 230VAC in Europe (240VAC in the UK, so this is slightly different). The voltage between two phases (pick any!) would then be 400V. We have three phases and one NUL; the frequency is 50Hz (not 60Hz like in the US).

Yeah it's standard over here in the states too! Though like you said, our phases are 240v 60 Hz, and 120v across any two. I'm surprised that it is 400v across yours though!

@@inventor1214 Formula: 230VAC * sqrt(3) = 398.37V When we had 220VAC, it was 380V between two phases: 220VAC * sqrt(3) = 381.05V -But I've heard that your configuration is different from ours. The NUL is in the center on our configuration, which is why you see the big difference. -But I understand that you still have 3 phases, right?
