I enjoyed the story and think it was better told in the book, because it takes time to tell Helen's inner journey, from helpless to brave. And I enjoyed the darker, deeper cadence of the book. But the movie had Luke Grimes and he looked sexy af

I love your review on both the book and movie! You did great explaining it. I saw the movie and read the book as well, I enjoyed both of them too!! Each cast member did a great job with the characters. The actor who played Beckett was amazing, and one of my favorite lines of his was when he said his little prayer to Mother Nature towards the end. I agree with you, the scenery is so beautiful. :)

Ellie Kemper was also on Thr Office. 😄 And I didnt realize that Luke Grimes i had seen on Yellowstone (didnt watch the series, but my roommates did and i saw it a few times). I really enjoyed them in the movie. Maybe I'll give the book a chance.

Totally agree with this review. I loved this sweet movie. The end of it is beautiful the way they finally get each other . Never knew this actress but will watch stuff with her NOW. Also was not really aware of Luke Grimes as much , But now going to watch all things Luke Grimes before and after this movie ❤❤❤

I watched the movie and bought the book afterwards. I have not finished it yet, but I already like the movie better. The whole dramatizing in the movie was straighter, rounder, good timing for romantic scenes, better dialogues and character built up. The year shift from 22 and 32 to 35 and 40+ was more realistic, as at those ages both are grown up, have more in common and to loose and makes Jakes true love and suffering for her more reliable. Even more the movie managed to show Helen's strength you have as a teacher and vulnerability you have after making the wrong choices at the same time from the beginning, as well as her kindness. I didnt feel that in the book. She appeared more self centered and inmature. For some the movie might seem too dull, but for me as a 40+ woman with depressions it mirrowed the exact mood how you feel when you not succeeded in life like you planned at that age. The other characters were built up much better as well and more likeable with better personalities from the beginning. I laughed at the Archer joke in the book but would not fit the premise of the movie where they hung out together before her marriage.

This is exactly how I felt! Thank you for articulating so much better than I could. She felt very full of herself and it was hard to see why Jake liked her. She didn’t even know his last name or remember he was the one to help her move after her divorce?? The movie made her much more likable, but I also love Ellie Kemper. The whole cast was fantastic.

I saw the film first, then when I found out it it was based on a book, I read it. I did not know that Jake was younger than Helen. I loved the poem in the film. I love Luke Grimes. It was a good film and I loved the book. I had a good time reading the book and watching the film. Thank you for saying you love books 😀 My Dad loved books took. He passed many years ago.

hello, I love the movie soo so so much,,, but I wanted to hear some other point of view of the book, cause I read some reviews and it was awful... but with yours I might buy it!! Katherine Centers books reminds me of Cecilia Ahern or Im I wrong... I can't compare cause I've never read anything about Katherine, but I've read alll Cecilias aherns books, and for me they're sooooo heart warming
