One more person with their method for growing orchids. We grow them as indoor plants in Minnesota and they do just fine if you simply manage the three variables: water, sunshine, and nutrients. Water is the trickiest for us because the roots will rot very easily. That's why you need to use a bark mix and then don't let the bark get too wet for too long. We use the 15 minute dunk in water method every two weeks. Most often, the dunk is just warm water, but every 3 months, the water is mixed with orchid food. Let the plants get a few hours of sun each day and that's it! They bloom when they're ready and they make babies on a similar schedule. Kind of like life that way.

thanks for that. i have an indoor orchid and I worry about it all the time because i don't know what to do and the youtube vids are all about the place with weird and wonderful 'methods'. I see one on my sidebar now saying 'all you need is coffee' and they apparently by the thumbnail have a leaft rooting in coffee! My problem is my plant threw out bud and it stopped developing and dried and died. Now another one is coming and I don't know what to do to help. I find your words about water very important. It worries me the water thing. It's so easy to add water when you don't know what to do. Finish up giving a little bit every few days and then I suppose we could get that continuous damp that rots the roots that you mention. But a developing bud looks like it needs water and the last one certainly seemed to have 'dried' and died. Nobody spells out the danger of drying out. Is it a big danger? How dry can they handle it? Dry right out so's stick a finger deep down doesn't feel any damp at all? And sun. Are you suggesting put them ( it, I only have one ) outside in the direct sun or at least the indirect sun every day? I plan to let it dry right out failing advice to the contrary and then when I judge it is dry I'll do your 15 minute dunk every two weeks. :)

I love to rescue plants. I've not been successful with orchids in the past until recently. My aunt grew beautiful orchids in southern Florida and she told me that I was killing them with kindness. She said Heather they love to be ignored. My orchid was looking very sad and I put it out on the back porch and 3 weeks later I noticed it had flower pods on it. I had really thought it was a gonner. So I didn't get too excited because I've had it get flower pods before and then they just fall off. I continued to ignore it and lo and behold it started to bloom and it has bloomed for 5 months! I did absolutely nothing but ignore it and spray it with water. Now I can see that it's probably time for me to give it more food. Thank you for continuing to encourage those of us that like to rescue plants from the sad shelves.

Ihave had some success with Orchids in the past, but then lost the plot and they gave up the ghost! I now have two that my grandson gave me last Christmas and the are now dormant again. This video has been a great help! I was told by a friend that it was too much love and that’s why my orchids were dying. She was right. My grandson’s gift may yet surprise me! I am a plant rescuer as well so I know how great it is to rescue a plant that is so rewarding.

Instead of using white sugar, you should use brown sugar, it is used in Australia to help transfer grass trees from pots into the ground. It is probable that you would not even need the yeast if you use brown sugar. My grass tree grew over 15 centimetre, (6 inches) in five years, while the normal growth is less than 1 centimetre a year. Just 1 teaspoon in water once a month for the first year, then basically leaving it to the rain to do the rest.

I have tried several different suggestions on growing orchids but the one that actually worked for me is taking banana peels and cloaking them in water for a day or two..watered the plant and new shoots came up quickly.

India , i agree. I absolutely loved this video. Nothing magic just common sense really but it has given me confidence to tackle the one i have in "intensive" care in the kitchen . Thank you for sharing your excitement! Here’s how you can safely and effectively clean dust off the leaves of your beautiful new orchids: ✅ 1. Use a soft, damp cloth: Take a soft cloth and lightly dampen it with clean water. Gently wipe each leaf from the base to the tip to remove dust without harming the plant. ✅ 2. Use a diluted mixture of water and a few drops of mild dish soap: Mix 1-2 drops of mild dish soap with water in a spray bottle. Lightly spray and wipe the leaves with a soft cloth. The soap will effectively remove dust and grime. ✅ 3. Lightly spray with water using a gentle shower or misting: Use a gentle spray to rinse the dust off the leaves. Be careful not to let water pool in the center of the plant or its crown, as this could lead to rot. 🌱 Tip: Avoid using strong chemicals or extremely cold or hot water, as they can harm your orchids. I hope this helps you keep your new orchids looking healthy and vibrant! 🌸✨

Bonjour, je suis de France et je pense que le pays d'origine de la plante joue un rôle énorme et prépondérant dans la culture et la réussite de ces diverses expériences. Tout ce que j'ai essayé jusqu'à présent hormis le jus d'ail, a été un échec. Je continue mais en adaptant à mon pays. Ici, l'eau, l'humidité ne font pas produire de racines mais un pourrissement. J'ai tout essayé y compris juste légèrement humide et ça ne fonctionne pas. Ce qui fonctionne, c'est complètement l' inverse de tout ce qui est dit et fait dans les différents tutos c'est-à-dire garder au sec durant 1 mois minimum pour que les racines commencent à pousser. Eh oui, il m'aura fallu plusieurs mois et déconvenues pour parvenir à commencer à avoir de belles orchidées 😇💖

Vă mulțumesc pentru videoclip foarte util,eu renunțasem într-un timp la aceste flori,deoarece tot se înbolnăveau,făceau miere,și păianjenul alb,dar am mai văzut și alte videoclipuri cu apă de pe orez,îl las 1/2oră să stea orezul în apă,și după aceea strecor și ud orhideele cu ea,sau 200ml apă cu 10 picături de lămâie și spăl și frunzele de miere și păianjeni și după aceea ud și floarea cu ea,de atunci am niște orhidee foarte frumoase!

@@rukiyeozkan7460 Чтобы орхидеи хорошо цвели надо , шкурки бананов замочить на 3 дня просто в воду и потом немного, примерно 50мл. полить под каждый кустик. Орхидея очень любит такую подкормку. Сама таким способом поливаю. Подсказала приятельница. Испробовала и осталась довольна результатом. Удачи.

First of all the issues of this orchid are mainly the result of no watering at all during a very long time. Just put them in a bucket of water until all the roots are green. Remove the roots that stay grey or brown( those are dead roots). That would do the trick too.

I have about 25 orchids, my friend has 70. And we rescued a lot. It takes more than 6 months, if u get lucky , to grow a new roots. On this video someone gives sugar, rice, tea, all bullshit and everything grows miraculously. Good luck.

While mostly true on orchids it can be done with intensive application & stable temperatures, feeding /fertilizers, honey & sugar do work in the right doses & just lots of attention, Good light & tropical regions / species will factor in as well.

If only life were ao simple. What do you feed yours? I admit i buy orchid mist and orchid food because although i have a very large garden and lots of indoor plants too orchids which i loves as they remind me of home , i just cannot keep alive

@@janet-margaretashton3688 We have these 2 orchids that we have kept inside the house for well over 20 years, they bloom every year and one plant has produced over 60 flowers in some years. I use miracle grow food only about 1/5 of a tea spoon in 1 liter of water, spray the top part of the roots everyday, each liter can last over 2 weeks for the 2 plants.
