rufanuf1 hi, rufanuf. Populism itself is generally used as a tool by some politicians to turn the public against the ‘elite’. They use emotive rhetoric to stir up fear and anger against their opponents that is often misplaced. The irony is, populist politicians are often highly elite themselves. (Donald Trump, Bojo etc) Those who employ populist tactics tend to deflect the word and seldom identify as populists. It is seen as a disingenuous tactic because rather than using popular opinion to win votes, it attempts to implant opinions in the minds of its target audience. In this instance using charged words like “surrender” “betrayal” to create a feeling that we are somehow at war to scare people in to accepting their arguments. That’s an objective assessment of populism. My own personal belief is that it’s best to stick to more reasoned debate because emotion, anger, resentment can lead to poor political choices and division in society. All the best

@@mozartsbumbumsrus7750 Good morning! I've just seen your comment. Can I say firstly that I am so sorry to see how badly you seem to have been affected psychologically by the subject of Brexit. Democracy is respecting the wishes of the winning side - in this particular case the 17.4 million people who voted to leave the EU. And, really is resorting to calling 17. 4 million people who voted to leave 'stupid' necessary? These people were/ are not 'stupid' they knew exactly what they were voting for. If you recall, and I am in no doubt that you do, politicians of all hues promised to respect the outcome of the referendum no matter what the result and not to throw all kinds of obstacles in the way of delivering that result. Anyway, that aside, many people who read your comment here will probably be very concerned about your well-being from a human perspective. You may be suffering from anxiety issues and possibly suffer from insomnia? Most people would probably advise you to get yourself off to your GP in the first instance - or, if you can afford it go private and perhaps Gina Miller and her associates could pay for private treatment for you if you can't or can't get a GP? - who will be able to offer you counselling or a suitable medication. If you still find that you may be unable to sleep until the medication that you are offered takes effect you can always go back onto websites to view comments others have made about Gina Miller and respond to those to pass the time - that should keep you occupied for some considerable time. Best wishes. Well done the Welsh blokes!

Reckless talked some sense but notice how quickly he jumped to defend the profits of "big pharma" against the proposal that the NHS produces generic medicine; it just looked like more vested interest. He didn't seem to understand that generic medicine: is less costly than brand named drugs; they are produced after the original patent has run out and they have the same active ingredients (just ask at your chemist/ drug store for the generic version of a branded pain -killer it always costs less). He's now on to his third political party so I'm beginning to wonder if it's the political parties (and it may well be) or him where the problem lies. Any talk of medicine shortages if/when the UK leaves the EU seems to ignore that the UK is a major exporter of medicine. What price common sense? I think Reckless (and a few in the house of Lords) work for big pharma; big business should not be sponsoring politics as that is corruption.

Insults the working class, she's trying to save you? Bo Jo comes from Eton for gods sake how far from the working class is that, he's a millionaire? In 2020 the EU will be changing the tax rules forcing millionaires and billionaires to show all their tax records, why do you think the Tories are wanting us to leave the EU? Most of you couldn't be bothered with the EU before 2015. When you come out of the EU who do you think will suffer, not the rich Tories, that's for certain! The UK will become a tax haven, hedge funds will be making millions from the profits of betting on Brexit and once again the working class and the poor will suffer! Don't believe what I say? Actually: while Gina Miller got the verdict she wanted the supreme court of the UK rejected her argument as an attempt to bring the law into matters of high politics; they accepted the Scottish government argument that debate was being stifled and Scotland voting remain may have decided the issue. However, at the moment there seems to be some dispute over who is in charge: The Queen; Westminster (parliament); the law or the people ... in Scotland it's the people. I've lost all trust in the current Westminster parliament, but it's pretty rich for the Tory to start trying to caution others about: being divisive; inconveniencing workers and while I don't understand the English education system, with tuition fees it's already looking like another debt mountain that can't be paid. Ten years of Tory austerity hasn't worked; the class war has (but only for the rich) and listening to the other Tory -> UKIP -> Brexit chap arguing against the NHS inconveniencing multinational "big pharma" by producing it's own generic medicine shows me where he gets his money and incidentally generic medicine: is out of patent; means you don't have to pay for the brand and so is a fraction of the price. The Welsh chap asking for another referendum on the same question is worse than nonsense: from then on every referendum will be contested; if the first isn't honoured why would the second or third be and (to the woman in the audience) if you aren't above voting age you just have to wait until you are; nobody has perfect knowledge of the future of the UK people vote for their reasons and usually they are on matters affecting them and referendums are used when there is no compromise. I believe it's easy enough for the UK to leave the EU (just stop paying membership and the EU will tell the UK when); I believe if you ask the UK voters a question that is the will of the people and any delay is an insult; this concept of parliamentary democracy where 650 people go their own way I don't believe in. Parliament has many roles, but telling us what to think is not one of them; what the voters require are facts and then they can decide based on them. I can't see the future, but I wonder if that many MPs do as many are making themselves unelectable and it has to be said that there is much more to the UK than two political parties which I think they may find out (neither wants a general election, by the way). I want to know who our elected representatives think they represent? (because it doesn't look like the voter, on whom they depend).

Kris - Teresa May's 'deal' was BRINO (Brexit In Name Only). The Irish 'backstop' tied the UK to the whims of the EU for as long as they wanted without any hope of breaking free without their say so. Only a militarily defeated country could or should accept those terms.
