Mikkey just kills it. I’ve been on tour with him as an opening act before. While all musicians his age loose their skill level, Mikkey is so consistent over decades. He is a true powerhouse. Also his style and energy he brings to music is underrated in my opinion. He is the same league as phil rudd imho. Mad respect from drummer to drummer 🙌🏻🔥

+ Don Dokken. I recall the criticism, bordering on disdain, when he was given the Motorhead job. After Phil Taylor and Pete Gill, fans weren't impressed with the choice of a Greek 'disco drummer'.

But he was no permanent long member , he only played one album with them ! When he recorded "Rabbit" with Helloween he was a member of Motörhead ! He has also recorded albums with several other bands but only in these three groups ( King , Motörhead , Scorps ) he stayed for years for a long time so these 3 bands are the bands he really belong to !

@@nista67 I didn't know that... But I wasn't impressed either, but for other reasons. I thought Motorhead is too simple for him after listening him playin with King Diamond for years, but after I heard Bastards I was blown away. They couldn't have picked a better drummer for the job.

Mr. Mikkey Dee plays drums like a true speedmetal music drummer... symphonic classical music style image. Mr. James Kottak plays drums as if he were the drummer of Linkin' Park (hip hop metal drummer)... type of "bad boy Linkin' Park" image. Mr. James Kottak is fond of thumping his feet on both pedals of his bass drums and he loves snare drums so much because of their piercing sound. That is why Mr. James Kottak's drum set is simpler in layout and more trimmed down level specs in terms of quantity but they are ear-piercing... whereas Mr. Mikkey Dee plays with even more various types of drum sounds (complex drum set) but because he plays drums like a symphonic classical music player, his drum beats are melodious and charming.
