And to this day, the city struggles to keep anything alive. If it isn’t tourism or the Alamo, it’s not important to the city. 🙄

It was built because the Spurs decided they needed something bigger than hemisphere arena and the city thought it could get more stuff including NFL football games if we have a large stadium. Then the Spurs complained that it was too big, so they demanded taxpayers fund the "community arena" (quickly re-named the AT&T Center once they got their way). Now it rarely gets used, and is probably the least-used large stadium in America.

@@oakT800 San Antonio had TWO NFL team owners living in our city at the time with Red McCombs with the vikings, and Tom Benson with the New Orleans Saints. They threw everything at those two with trying to talk them into moving one of the teams here. It didn't work.

@@oakT800 I wouldn't be surprised if that was true. There are cities much smaller than the 7th largest city in America (San Antonio) who have NFL teams, but we just can't get one? There has to be some force working to block us.
