Like you said, it has an interesting history. It was built from the donations of the servants living in parish. It is dedicated to Our Lady, Refuge of Sinners.

@peterdooleydublin Peter Ireland needs people like you, Michelle Keane in Kerry is an other example of the real Ireland. I suppose we are dealing with traitors but at the end of the day it is up to us the good loyal people of this beautiful land to put things right. It is a pity that the people in Ireland do not see what evil rules them, some of these obnoxious people have lived off of the Nation all their lives and not batted an eyelid. In fact they think they are important and to be admired, when the truth is they are the lowest form of humanity.

I used to go to the Cubs behind that church and played football under a street light in the laneway there. The bus drivers always blessed themselves as they drove past the church.

The music at the 6pm Mass in Rathmines is led by a very accomplished ensemble (more impressive than the term "folk group" suggests) They take a distinctive approach of using "secular" songs that evoke life themes - often related to justice - as well as "sacred" music per se. It can be very poignant when they cover songs like Phil Collins' "Another Day in Paradise" or "Love of the Common People" or "New World in the Morning" or Christy Moore classics in the liturgy. I suspect Jesus would be very much okay with a liturgy that empathizes so explicitly with suffering people.
