I honestly think he will die in the end, as the doctor said, but this ending is nice, at least now he's happy and doesn't have regrets. He lived his life for others and found happiness in the hardest of times: destiny can be cruel, but you're the owner of your life and it depends on you wether the time you spend before the end is the literal time of your life, or you get swept by the events and end up dying tragically, after living tragically. Many people wish for a season 2: I think it's way more meaningful that it ends like this. A miracle that saves him and the tumor magically vanishes is cliche and it would also make people forget about the fundamental issue in this drama: live a meaningful life until the end, no matter when it will happen and how. It's also a message to those suffering from these kinds of tumors and see no hope at all in their lives, that says to live happily and not waste any moment, because no matter how short it is, life is a beautiful thing. I think that sticking with the harsh reality of lethal tumors, although sad, is meaningful to those who actually suffer from them. It's not about being hopeless, but about believing in yourself and give value to your time.
