There will be Season 2 if they will follow the novel. Season 2 will likely bring some changes to the storyline, which is common in adaptations. @@javi_family no she doesn’t die but baek saeon fakes his death after rescuing her Edit: Spoiler In the novel this is the ending; A few months ago by and interpreter hong is grieving his death, being left a wealthy widow. Soon she starts to receive anonymous phone numbers with the area code being (675). (The area code in the kdrama is (604) I believe). The anonymous caller does not speak once when she picks up and calls at a certain time. One day she confronts the caller and questions them. Right as she is questioning them her tv turns on to the clip of the spokesperson giving his final speech to the part where he says, “find me”. She soon realizes that the anonymous call is actually the spokesperson and that he is alive. She finds out that the calls are coming from Papúa New Guinea. She visits assistant park do Jae in prison and questions him about the spokesperson. He reveals that the spokesperson is probably alive and if anything he is hiding in the republic of Argan, because that is where the spokesperson serve during his time in the military. She goes to Argan under the guides of being an international interpreter teacher for deaf children. She is soon taken by rebels as an interpreter to a place and she ends up finding the spokesperson. A fight occurs between the spokesperson and the rebels and he escapes with interpreter hong in a car. The end of the main story leaves off with the spokesperson and the interpreter surviving the escape from the rebels and waiting for Korean government help. The two have a heart to heart revealing their true identities to one another and confessing that they love one another and have since 20 years ago. They promise to be truthful to one another and to only talk with their lips from now on instead of using phone calls. There are 13 extra chapters but i don’t think the k drama with include them since the extra chapters are side stories of the couple’s new life with each other. If you search up; moonlightnovel You should be able to find the english translation for the novel. Personally I like the kdrama better because baek saeon is less of a red flag and the relationship is portrayed better.

I’m really sure that we are going to get an happy ending and here is my reasoning.1 ,after the filming for the drama ended in November staff members and the actors posted pictures from the drama and in several pictures that were posted,there was heejoo and saeon with their new rings indicating that saeon had the chance so propose to heejoo again like he promised in episode 10.They also posted pictures from the last shooting which looked like a wedding .2 , MBC dramas mostly have happy endings and seeing that their dramas didn’t get as high ratings this year they would probably put out a drama where there is a lot of excitement,saddens ,happiness and a good ending to get their ratings up again.And all of those criteria’s match ‘When the phone rings ‘. So let’s all hope that we are going to get and happy ending.
