For those that confuse rumble strutting with purring. Purring is higher-pitched and means your pig is happy. Rumble strutting is deeper and more intense, and used for territorial or mating purposes

Aye, popcorning is being so happy they can hardly contain their enthusiasm. Purring is being very content and can sometimes be a big thank you after receiving food or treats. 😊❤️🐹 Btw, Mocha is a very good name. My little guy is named Davey MaCavy. 😂

I feel like when Mother Nature was handing out attributes to animals she went through the whole list and realized she forgot about guinea pigs. What your precious baby is doing is called rumblestrutting! When a guinea pig wants to appear more "dominant" they will make that loud, short rumble noise and slowly strut. It does sound like a purr, but it may mean your guinea pig is unhappy, especially when they chatter their teeth. Such a cutie though!

Purring sometimes isn’t a happy noise. Since Guinea pigs can’t growl, they will make that purring sound instead. Very rarely it could be a happy noise but most times it’s a territorial or unhappy sound.

Rumble-strutting is not always a negative reaction, this video is a great example. As she's popcorning right after that she's certainly not stressed and actually very happy. And as she is laying down and stretching limbs right after rumble strutting she's definitely expecting a good time with her owner.

the guinea pig is not happy and he is not purring. What is taken for purring is a sort of self affirming noise of attempt to show force. this is reinforced by the fact that he restarts to do it again as soon as the person touches the back maybe beyond his visual field whitch scares him by surprise like some sort of mild sneak attack. Guinea pigs are compassion barometers. If the person spends some deal of time observing his little companion thoroughly he/she will discover that when the guinea is really chill he does not react like this.
