ഈ കാര്യങ്ങൾ ഒക്കെ നേരത്തെ അറിയാവുന്നത് കൊണ്ട് എനിക്ക് കുഞ്ഞുണ്ടായപ്പോൾ ഞാൻ ഒരുപാട് concern ആയിരുന്നു. കുഞ്ഞിന് നല്ല food habit ഉണ്ടാക്കിയത് ന്റെ പേരിൽ husband ന്റെ വീട്ടുകാരുടെ ഇടയിൽ ഞാൻ ഒരു മഹാ അപരാധി ആയി.... എന്റെ മാതൃത്വത്തെ ചോദ്യം ചെയുന്ന രീതിയിൽ പല സംസാരങ്ങളും കേൾക്കേണ്ടി വന്നു.... കുത്തുവാക്കുകൾ, പരിഹാസങ്ങൾ..... എല്ലാത്തിനും നന്ദി. ❣️proud mom

Same here.... I am being blamed as I tried self feeding in high chair from 6th month, now she is 1 year old , she eats by herself but I am a bad mom as I don’t feed her by carrying along the courtyard showing flowers and cats🙃

Reduce the milk intake to 1 cup after 1 1/2 yrs, kids will automatically eat food. Our people thinking is drink lots of milk. If kids drink more than 2 cup, it automatically reduce their appetite for food, encourage them to drink plenty of water. Give them vegetables, meat and poultry, reduce rice and other carbohydrates. Good job 👍🏾

I understand your situation. If your son prefers to be fed and is happy that way, I wouldn't see that as a problem. The golden rule for a happy mealtime is "no pressure", including no pressure to eat on one's own. Once he is on his own at school, he will eventually learn to eat by himself, though it might take time. So don't worry Neethu🙂. Meanwhile, for now, maybe you can encourage him to eat snacks or food that he really enjoys, by himself. But if your son shows interest in eating by himself, please let him, without worrying about the quantity eaten or the mess created. If you restrict him in that case, it might lead him to dislike mealtimes.

My kid sits in one place and eats only if she is with grandmother and hears some stories or is playing or if she is eating by herself which is when she gets her favourite food. You had mentioned that we should not distract them like that.. Then how do u make ur daughter sit in one place and eat when it's not their favourite food ? Regarding what do u interact with her when u feed her?

Hi! I see no harm in having conversations while eating. As long as it is not used as a tactic to make the child eat, it is fine. The point is that the child should decide what to eat and how much to eat.

Hi Sreeja! You could try a few things: 1. Make sure that there is enough time between two meals for the child to feel hungry. Also make sure she is not too hungry because that might make her angry. 2. Let her eat on her own. That might make her feel interested in mealtimes. Don't worry about the mess. 3. Let her touch and feel the food. Even if she doesn't eat the food, it's ok. Touching and feeling is a way of getting used to the food. It will slowly help her accept the food. 4. Make the child sit and eat along with other family members. This will make mealtimes joyful. The child also sees how others are eating and helps her learn. 5. Do not ever force the child to eat. Trust the child. When she indicates 'no' or 'enough', trust her and let it be. 6. Involve the child in cooking or peeling according to the age. This will generate interest in food. 7. While eating together, keep your focus on your own plate and not on the child's plate. The more the child senses that you're worried about her food intake, the more she tries to avoid food. 8. Always make sure that atleast one item on the child's plate is something that the child usually likes. This is called a "safe food". Always offer new food along with a safe food. This will reduce the child's stress around mealtimes. You just need to remember not to offer the same safe food every day. Offer different safe foods each day. The golden rule is - no pressure. 9. Something I have found useful in introducing a new food is to eat the new food in front of the child rather than offering it directly. That makes the child curious and she might ask for a bite. 10. Trying a different setting for the meal might also make it interesting, e.g. instead of the dining table, have a meal on a mat on a floor or have the meal in a different plate or in a tiffin box or on a banana leaf. Just try something new once in a while to revive interest.

Allenkil adutha meal usual time il kodukum or avalku vishannal alpam nerathe kodukum. Mikavarum aval aa adutha meal pathivilum kooduthal kazhikum. Njan paranju vannathu ingane pressure illathe irikumbo annerathe meal kazhichillenkilum adutha meal or adutha divasam nannayitu kazhikan aanu chance. But If we force them, athinte negative effect adutha meals ilum kaanum. Avarku food inodu negative attitude avum. Trusting the child is what helped me change my ways🙂
Expose them to vegetables more and more without forcing. Involve them in vegetable shopping, peeling, cooking etc. in a safe and age appropriate manner. Talk to them about the benefits of eating vegetables during casual conversations. And keep offering vegetables along with other food, without forcing to eat.
