Ridiculously accurate of what was going on. Whacky effects etc but this was how we were in a club. 88-93. Honest it knocks spots of all the other movements. Show me a punk story were we met 100s of people in service stations, or an army drove to some field on the promise of a music set. Those of us who fed cows salt & vinegar crisps in green fields were part of something never seen and never repeated. EDM lol.

Late night phone calls from service stations all over the south west, meeting up with convoys coming from all areas, driving wee country roads sparkled off our tits from _China whites_ straight off the boat from Amsterdam, spending the weekend covered in mud in some poor farmer's field ... bliss 😁🤩

Never made the Hacienda but got nuts at plenty of other gaffs, early Liverpool joints like The Underground and The Twilight Zone then the later Quad. Followed it through until the big Fantazia Raves like Donnington and that. Crazy times, Chigo house in 88 to insane Jungle in 92. Fucking burnt out but loved it all. I actually caught this on late night telly whilst a load of us were mushroomed to fuck. Great video. Britain always had the best scenes.

Epic indeed Bruno and no other mix of this original version comes close to this. Any subsequent 'club mix' to this should have kept with the original sound and just extended the length of this version, like The Roses did with the original Fools Gold. I wish there was a 12 minute version of this original mix, without changing the basic sound and concept. Never has there been a more apt situation to state: ''If it's not broken, don't fix it.'' Sean Ryder and the Mondays ??? Legends indeed !!!!

youre right, each to their own...id argue the superiority of late 80s-90s hip-hop, urban dance music and indie over the current lot, but no doubt theres a thousand young uns who feel exactly the opposite tbh i aint been out raving or doing pills for the last 4 years, and last time i done that it was a one off, i got out of clubbing just as garage turned into grime, so cant say much about raving now, i didnt like the direction of it for a while but the music kept us going, cant say that any more

I remember not being allowed out of the hacienda club in Glasgow because there was a multiple stabbing against the club door. It's not acid house though, that was a bit different. Acid house was imported from the US, and was much more fast and frantic, but the baggies were home-grown, and laid-back.... That's why I think Happy Mondays were better, they were cool, and their music was hippy-trippy, Acid had its place, but it was such an overload of the senses. It was the aural equivalent of all that dayglo glow in the dark stuff they wore and decorated the clubs with. But you could groove to the Mondays. And I still do.
