Benching Petterson would be stupid. He is the best defensive forward on the team and he plays that way EVERY game regardless of his offence. He hardly ever gets to play with Hughes and has to back up an AHL level defense. And he still ends up putting up points while having a collection of misfit bottom 6 wingers most of the time. He gets a decent winger in Debrusk and debrusk is scoring and ep40 puts up points. And he is clearly injured.. his skating metrics tell you that. Trading petey, unless you are getting brady, or celibrini, or bedard back, would be idiotic while keeping a 31 year old miller who is already declining and blatantly loses games with selfish or lazy play. JT personally lost like 3 games in a row for the team

I’m not ready to blame Rutherford and Alvin. They made some excellent moves to get DeBrusk, Sutherland, Lankenenn, who are all out-performing expectations. So they improved the team even with no cap space. Myers, Boesser and Miller were all great last year, and it was reasonable to expect Petterson to get out of his funk. They can’t be blamed for the injuries, or for the drama between Miller and Petterson. Now they’re doing exactly what they should, at the right time. Raise hell.

Who the heck is Sutherland do you mean Suter or Sherwood…? Bluegar was a pretty good signing as well, Heinen hasn’t been terrible either. Myers has never been great, he’s serviceable in a 3rd pairing role but not for 3mil. The forward group has been well put together, the defensive core is a shit show past Hughes and Hronek.

EP40: What a HORRIBLE signing, I said at the time, and remain thinking so. WTF are they paying a HART TROPHY type salary and making him the 5th highest paid player in the league, to a player that hasn't consistently show anything yet? Hronek is not the right partner for Hughes. They need a 4-6M dollar Defenseman to play with Hughes and another capable D-man (6M+) to anchor the second pair. The winger overload in the off-season was ridiculous and Garland doesn't produce enough points for his 5M. Letting Tanev go was the biggest mistake they ever made (OEL trade included.)

There is one team in the league with fewer regulation losses. Vegas. With all the crap they have had to go through and despite all the hand wringing this shows the Canucks are in most games and maybe lose the extra point. I don't think things are nearly as dire as painted.

He says he is injured.... the change in his skating metrics say he is injured..... the eye test watching him skating SCREAMS he is injured...... But the coach says no, the organization says no, and some media are trying to make him out to be a baby. So is the media and the coach saying that he is faking being unable to skate? Like this is wild.. the player says he is injured and every indication with his play would point to that.. but we are just supposed to not believe the guy that owns the knees in question.. like what are we doing here?

I would rather keep miller boeser and pettersson. Just let them not make playoffs. Because, I know this dcore isn't good. It is a huge reason we are floating at 500. Rather miss play offs and try fix the dcore next year. We got willander and D pettey coming in soon. Who probably fill the dcore better than juulsen , desharnais etc.
