***** Hahaa! Thanks, Larry! So... You're suggesting that one of your celebrity PR agents is going to get me onto Better Homes and Garbage next year? Will I have to wear pants?

Nice Job on that round. I have never seen that used before! I would say Happy St. Paddy's day but I know you had one with that Hunka Hunka piece of beef! Beautiful Slicing Shots!
@Anonymoose9 жыл бұрын
GqueBBQ Thankee, sir! I ran into the round just a few years ago, and I'll never do another brisket. It's fantastic! I have three in the freezer now to last me until next year. LOL! Yep, it was a fine St Paddy's, fer sure. I have just about enough left for a killer Reuben. I've been tinkering with some closeup angles lately, and I like the effect. They also make great thumbnails. LOL

ABQdoubleG Gigi! Thanks for dropping in! This one turned out great, and it was awfully hard to keep from committing felonious gluttony. I ended its life yesterday with an overstuffed Reuben.

YEY! I can watch videos again! :) I missed everyone while my stupid modem was broken. I had my corned beef and cabbage last night. It is always so good!! I did forget to make Irish soda bread though. It was fun at that Irish pub, but I agree with Melissa, it was wayyyy too loud. Hope you really enjoyed this lucious dinner! But no Guiness?!? ;)
@Anonymoose9 жыл бұрын
***** A broken modem would really suck! Glad you got it working again. The soda bread never crossed my mind, and it would've been the perfect finish. Dangit! I thought about Guinness right after I got home from the last trip to the store, and I wasn't inspired enough to go *back* out and get some. Yes, the pub was impossibly loud, but the food and the company were unbeatable. And we ate entirely too much! I know I sure did.

Looked delicious. I`ve never saw a "round" , only flats and points. Thanks for sharing.
@Anonymoose9 жыл бұрын
MsChopperdog Thanks for stopping in! I discovered the round just a couple of years ago and was immediately hooked on it. To me, it runs rings around the brisket in every respect, but availability is spotty. Some people can't find it anywhere, and others are finding it plentiful. My Publix looks to have about 1/3 rounds to 2/3 briskets, but you have to grab them while they're hot. They're only stocked this time of year, and they go fast. I've gotten into the habit of grabbing 3 to freeze, so I can have it more than once a year.

Looks absolutely fantastic, but really loved the anguish over the "sacrificial beer" :)

name Hahahaaaa! Pouring a perfectly good beer into a pan, never to be seen again, is a traumatic experience. But it *was* a really good corned beef, worthy of the agony. Thanks for dropping in!

foodquig That was a good time! Loud, but fun. If you got too close to the screen when I uncovered it, some of the steam probably got through. It drove me crazy waiting for it to "rest".

Looks good. Where did you get your love of cooking and learn how to cook? Thanks for the video. I hope you will post again soon.
@Anonymoose9 жыл бұрын
lidsman2221 It was exceptionally yummy. I have just about enough left to build a really killer Reuben tomorrow. I started cooking when I was a kid, hanging out in the kitchen with my Mom. Cooking intrigued me, and she encouraged it by letting me "help." So when I was in college and moved off campus, and suddenly had my own kitchen, I was ready for it. The love of it has evolved over the years, partly because I love to eat, and partly because there's so much room to get creative. There's *always* something new to learn.
@lidsman22219 жыл бұрын
Were you and your mom very close? What type of foods were your fav that she cooked?
@Anonymoose9 жыл бұрын
lidsman2221 Yeah, we were a pretty close family, and she was a real full time Mom. I was exposed to so many foods as a kid, it's hard to pick one, but it might be a tossup between her pot roast and her homemade breads.
@lidsman22219 жыл бұрын
I am the same way with my parents. My mom has never fixed homemade bread that I can recall but I would not mind if she did. I love my mom;s pot roast as well plus her chicken and rice. By the way do you know how to make chicken bog? If you do id love to see make it. Thanks!

I love the round vs. the brisket! Hard to find around here in Michigan in my area. I will check with the meat market. I like to make reuben sandwiches out of the leftovers........................
@Anonymoose8 жыл бұрын
+ELAINE MCKENZIE Yes, the round is the best! I'd never seen them here until a few years ago, and I'll never go back to the brisket. They can be scarce, and they disappeared fast, though I noticed last March that Publix stocked a lot more of them. My stunt is that I'll buy 3 or 4 of them while I can, and freeze them. They freeze very well ! Over the next couple of weeks, I'll be watching Publix like a hawk for this years batch to appear. If your local markets don't have them, I'd bet your meat market can get them. I do love Reubens myself, but the last one I did a few months ago, I made corned beef hash with the leftovers for the first time in years, and now I'm all hung up on it again, too. LOL Thanks for watching, and thanks for the sub. too! Much appreciated!

It was so fun at that Irish Pub at ST. It was too loud though but James and I had fun and the scotch eggs were to die for. They were delicious! Moosie that corned beef looks so Yummy! I didn't one this year. I can't find a round corned beef like that and I don't like the others. Hugs!
@Anonymoose9 жыл бұрын
imperceptibleme Yes, it was insanely loud, but it was a ball! I'd never even heard of Scotch Eggs before, and I could've just ordered a big pile of them and called it dinner. They were amazing, and when I got home, the first thing I did was learn how to make them. In fact... it's been a while. I should make a batch soon. They're *so* "healthy... LOL The rounds seem to be hard to get in some areas. If you ask your grocer, they could probably get them. My Publix stocks in quite a pile of them, but *only* for St Patty's day, so I stock the freezer. I know what you mean about the brisket, I'm not too fond of it either, and as long as I can get the rounds, I'll never buy one again.
@007bondjb9 жыл бұрын
Wish they sold those CB eyes here, Seen em one time. They slice better than Corned brisket. Looks great JBE, I have a green koozie, aint planing to add dye to no beer either. That stuffs for birthday cake icing...
@Anonymoose9 жыл бұрын
***** Ha! Gotcha on the dye. Beer is not supposed to be green. I don't get why the rounds seem to be so scarce. You get the same brand, same source, that I do, and last week my Publix had both rounds and briskets, in two separate bins, dozens of each. I grabbed spares for the freezer. So it baffles me that so many other people can't find them at all. To me they run rings around briskets, in slicing, texture, and lack of waste. As long as I can get them, I won't even look at a brisket.
@007bondjb9 жыл бұрын
Here all they sell are CB trimmed flats & CB trimmed points. You rite on the waste too, even trimmed you loose about 1/3 of the weight in fat. I'ma have to have a talk with that non union butcher Boy

I think the acoustics at that pub at ST-5 was horrible. I just remembered the loudness of it. I went out, in my green shirt, for some corned beef and cabbage. I also had potatoes with it, as well as, carrots. It was great! I wouldn't have minded what you cooked up though. EdElisea 03/18/2015
@Anonymoose9 жыл бұрын
***** The pub was incredibly loud, yes! But... it's a pub, and that's what pubs do. The food, and the company, were great. I've gone out for it in times past, and it sure is a lot easier, but the result of doing it yourself is worth it. Besides, I'm retired. All of my time is spare time. :-)

Liz Kimber Hahahaaa! Eww! I would've been worried, too. I remember that stuff in the can. Haven't had it for many years, and mostly on camping trips, but I do remember that it doesn't resemble the real thing. You do get real corned beef over there too, don't you?
