John Park speaks the truth. Why exactly is it important to text you to let you know I woke up? Like Why??
@creativefruittree34809 жыл бұрын
+Ashley Dillon i always say that and most guys and my friends find it weird well

True. That's too suffocating. and also, missing a text could cause a break up. That's just too absurd.
@annisarahmat66479 жыл бұрын
+Ashley Dillon Well yah.. it's their culture tho. Most Korean girls oblige their men to put them on no.1 priority and if you don't text like literally every minute, girls thought their men are no longer care for them sooo yah :| I know it's sooo ridiculous but hey it's really happen there. But on the bright side, your Korean man is gonna be really sweet and care so much for you, just like in those dramas :D

And I was so amazed & empressed with his genuine reaction and he handle it very well in a positive way and I can see that he is a genuine gentleman.... And from then I become his No. 1 International fans. Good luck to Eric and keep up the good work. Cheers!.

I would never wish ANYONE to go through bullying no matter what the case.

I'm not trying to guilt anyone and I know we're all having fun watching this but... everyone's talking about how the guests were funny or how they're happy that a specific guest showed up. I still can't shake off that conversation they had about how they were bullied for their race :/ I'm also asian and I too have been called bad names, been pushed around, etc. That stopped once I entered highschool cuz I fortunately went to a school that was very acceptive and chill. I know that it happens everywhere and it really sucks.. some of you might comment something like "this happens all the time. just enjoy the good parts of the video" but that's like *avoiding* the problem..
@miralie69199 жыл бұрын
+hyong pls you're extremely right. i kept scrolling down to see if there were comments about that but found none until yours. i felt really sick while watching that, especially as a person of colour myself and it really does suck :(((
@MsJackson13309 жыл бұрын
+hyong pls I thought about it too ,but unfortunately not from your perspective. As soon as they talked about it the first thing that popped into my head was well what about all of the non white foreigners in Korea that are ill treated. It always rubs me the wrong way because many Koreans are quick to say well its because we arent used to foreigners or its because they are curious. While that may be true, it doesnt give you a pass especially for the country that boasts it has the worlds fastest internet yet still doesnt know the difference between a black american and someone from Africa. Or still believe in ancient stereotypes about people from other countries. Or say gross/blatantly racists things in the native language assuming you do not understand. Even more when shit like this happens to us in foreign countries we cant just punch the other person and have everyone be like "good job" regardless if the other person is in the wrong just because you are foreign you are likely going to jail. I honestly think both sides need to be addressed. While in America they are making changes and people are standing up for these types of discrimination, the Asian nations still have a lot of work to do especially as we become more globalized like we have in the past 15 20 years.
@Suny8078 жыл бұрын
+MsJackson1330 And? Yes, racism&colorism are extant/prevalent in Korea. Antiblackness, for that matter, is an international issue. That doesn't mean that young Asian, in this particular case Korean, children deserve to be spat on/insulted/belittled. John Park shouldn't have reacted with violence, but the other person shouldn't have been raised to think it's okay to aggressively verbalize their racism, much less be racist at all. (Though passive acceptance would have done nothing but reaffirm racism is OK, & help the aggressive racism escalate w no repercussions.) Pushing this off w/a 'well what about' only engenders ignorance/enmity. There's no need to get defensive about it either. 'Racist' is not a personal insult. Korea & America have many issues to work on including white/White superiority, & they can be worked on at the same time. You don't have to choose one issue over the other. tldr; racism is wrong everywhere, we're all racist' and we all need to work on it.
@MsJackson13308 жыл бұрын
+Suny807 My comment was my opinion on how I felt when they started mentioning how terrible it was for them as Asians in America, not once did I say they deserved it. My commentary was on how deeply they cared when their own culture and people were being blantantly discriminated against but when it is another culture they tend to joke about it or say well people are not used to seeing others like you. I can easily find an episode of Hello Counselor where they did just this. The guest was an African student and he told a story just like this where people did awful stuff to him in his face yet the hosts all said "well you shouldn't hold it in your heart, maybe they aren't used to seeing Africans" -__- but they said good job when Roy punched the kid. nope. I never pitted one form of discrimination and racism against one another but if you are going to sit here and try to convince me that expressing how I interpreted the matter from my own point of view is wrong because they were not focusing on that topic you can go have a seat. The beautiful thing about hailing from different cultures is that our experiences are never the same. The original OP shared his experience/commentary after Roy's story and I shared my experience and commentary. You like everyone else want to solve racism yet do not want to complete the first step which is to sit back and let someone share their view/opinion on the matter without jumping in to tell them "well we are focusing on Asian racism at the moment so......". Please.
@MsJackson13308 жыл бұрын
+Jin Soo Chun no I wasnt dismissing their experiences, but mine and other non natives in that country arent going to be the same. its impossible im not korean american or even korean. I stated my opinion very clearly and if it rubbed someone the wrong way its because they chose to only intepret my opinion in that manner instead of acknowledging thats how I have viewed the show. How I felt and feel about that part of the episode is not going to change. My and other experiences are still valid although its not the korean-american experience.

Watching this on 2016 while Eric is promoting " Good for you"... OMG! I'm shipping Eric so much more now!! He speaks spanish too!! OMG!! Fabulous! He's so cute having a korean accent when speaking spanish instead of an english accent! xD Side note on the show, the sombrero, and the cactus CG when he was speaking in spanish was a little racist... Mexico is nothing like that now days... But i'll forgive you KBS, with my loving mexican heart! ERIC NAM! Fighting!!

Please forgive them, for they know nothing about racial insensitivity... Or Mexico. They also know nothing about Mexico.

Vania Choi lol that kinda annoys me every time they do that with the hat, cactus and mustache on every Korean channel when someone speaks Spanish. I mean, there are 19 Spanish speaking countries in the American continent with different accents and Eric's doesnt sound Mexican... but whatever haha

Came because of Eric and was glad. He was awesome. And his Spanish... Yes! 😍 Stephanie was absolutely adorable. She wasn't just some pretty face. She had a lovely personality. And John Park was absolutely brilliant. He was quite handsome when he was on American Idol, too.

I really enjoyed watching this episode of 'Happy Together'--my first ever. It was so interesting listening to these Korean-American stars in Korea talk about their cross-cultural experiences. So brave of them! They give me hope.
