Beautiful. I love Ian Bostridge. Although I have one thing to say about him that's not good. She looks like she has won on a lottery or something. He..he could as well sing about "Yea, well, I went to the supermarket today, yeah, bought some fruits and vegetables." And one hand in the pocket. Come on Bostridge, be happy for petes sake!=DDDD

This would be better if they were closer and looking at one another , other than this they are flawless.

Listen to the Tom Hobbs/Dunedin Consort version on here - it makes this sound quite 'un-together' and the blend is rarely there! It's as if a policy of 'everyone for themselves' has been applied.

@Paules8460 Oh yes, it is most certainly silly. That's why it's so utterly delightful!

Its strange he is so loud as his voice is considerably smaller than Kate Royals! I can only assume this is something to do with the recording dept and the balance they aimed for on the broadcast.

Ian Bostridge's voice is not large , but it is very focused and carries well. Also I think the general tessitura of Galatea's line in this duet may be just a little too low for Kate Royal. Her lovely voice is heard to greater advantage in the higher sections. It might have been better to raise the pitch slightly , rather than use baroque pitch ( a semi tone down) for both singers? I like the tempo and accompaniment, but wish there was a bit more connection between this Acis and Galatea..

"Happy We"?? "Happy She", might be a more accurate title. Perhaps She is happy because she does not have to sing next to him. The soprano seems truly happy and sings quite well overall. The tenor, wow, where exactly is his left hand...is his hand in his pocket? Hmm...Is that his "happy place" ?

In some ways a 'Hello Goodbye' part 1 ; ))

am i the only one who things this tenor is terrible? there is no complement to the piece, he's singing to the ground and in my estimation slightly too self-involved to to be a really good duet partner. I also somehow believe that even as a soloist he wouldnt do so well as his voice is everything but delightful. but that might just be me. the piece was a mistake.

Beautiful rendition, although the acoustics were not the most favorable. Too woofy.

She's wonderful, but what horrible singing posture he has! It's a wonder he can sing at all all crumpled up like that, singing out of the corner of his mouth with his hand in his pocket.
