Thank you for this. I’m going through the hardest moment of my life right now. Resilience is a word that is with me for the last few years that have been pretty tough. I have a wonderful and healthy 2.5 year old but realized a few days ago that their sibling that I’m pregnant with lost their life just before 11weeks. My new year will start with a D&C.

I have had worse years as well. Thanks for saying that! This was still an odd year, but there is a lot to learn from it. At the beginning of everything, I looked forward to getting back to normal. Now I know that our lives will forever be changed. (I just hope we can see our family and give hugs soon.) I am glad you feel comfortable enough in your skin to just be you! Yes, 2020 taught me so much. Even though it was really hard, I feel like a grew & changed so much and my confidence is just so much higher! I think I was able to spend time with myself and learn how to be happy with that. I learned a lot about myself, I learned that turning 30 is going to be the best because my life is about to really start. I feel like I have gained the motivation to finally go after my dreams and goals without worrying about what others might think or say. Getting to know myself more was the best thing that could have happened last year and I'm so thankful for that!

I'm actually proud of myself last year. I managed to control my drinking problem and got back in touch with my family. I started exercising and drinking a half gallon of water everyday. I can't believe I'm saying this but I love myself.

I have had harder years than this one too. 2020 has taught me to be stronger and more resilient. It has also brought me closer to my family who lives in another state than me by doing lots of FaceTime. I appreciate my family and friendships more. It has been difficult at times, but I don’t take anything for granted.

2020 was the year I started my third year of university (after having had to repeat a year) that was a big achievement. I’ve done this semester entirely online, from my bedroom at home, not set foot on campus once. And it’s looking like the coming semester will be the same, I’m nervous. As the idea of writing my 8,000 word dissertation on my study from my bedroom with the only help being through email, that’s daunting. It might be petty, but a few years ago a “friend” said “Tayla shouldn’t be doing a levels, she should be on vocational courses” so the fact I made it to uni was awesome, but to be able to say I completed my final year alone without the physical social support of peers, working with a very old computer and having to work really hard to get my brain to focus, that will be such an achievement and I will absolutely be posting that screenshot as my comeuppance once I finish the course in a few months.
