In 2023, representatives from various international myositis groups and organizations from Australia, Canada, the Czech Republic, Germany, Sweden, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, and the United States came together to establish World Myositis Day.
On this significant day, we aim to raise awareness about myositis-a progressive inflammatory muscle disease that can affect both adults and children. Myositis leads to weakness, muscle loss, fatigue, and can sometimes involve the skin, heart, and lungs. It encompasses a range of different diseases and symptoms, making it essential for the public to be informed. We advocate for myositis to be a focal point in research and medical practice.
This year marks the second celebration of World Myositis Day. Various international myositis groups and organizations will host activities aimed at increasing awareness and understanding of myositis. Join us as we come together to shine a light on this often-overlooked disease!
