I get that new people to your videos won't know what you do with your bills but you are very thorough with your planning and showing us visually how you do it (pay your bills) . I have started doing this as it seems easier for me,as I'm a visual person, and love how you colour code every week, just love it. Keep up the good work Desiree.😊

I think the key is also " its your budget, make it work for you" so when you have a certain category like spending, it can be whatever you need it to be and not what someone else thinks it should be. Also... I keep saying this but I love that you never have anything left in coffee 😂❤

I honestly was thinking about this way of budgeting. I feel as I can not use the envelope but the method works.

I don’t think I can devote the time to do the cash envelope system, but I love watching these videos and you’ve inspired me to figure out how to set up options for saving.

Budgeting is definitely very individual. I only cash budget for 4 funds (Eating Out, Personal Spending, Hair Care and Gifts) All my other funds are in my checking or saving accounts. I do have electronic fund trackers for what I track in my checking and all my monthly bills are auto pay. I currently have over 20 sinking funds in my savings and about half of those funds are for yearly expenses I save for, while the others are for future spending needs. I recently bought a new sofa as my previous one was over 15 years old and had seen better days. I knew how much I had in my fund and what I wanted to spend and went to the store and found what I wanted. I paid for it with my credit card and once it posted I transferred the money from my savings to pay my card. I also have a designated emergency fund that is in a money market account, which receives higher interest. I think you have to do what is best for you, but I think it is great that you share your ideas and can give other incentive and motivation. Keep up the great work and videos.

I love this idea of a planner…I just have not embraced it - yet. I leave all of our money in the bank. I rarely use cash…(paper money). I have budgeted our income and bills on a very simple spreadsheet. Nothing complicated, just bills and income, dated sequentially. I make it an 8 font and print it out and carry in my checkbook. I usually do one quarter period at a time and cut each month separately. It helps me track when due, and how much per bill. Then I cross it off when I post to my banking online bill payment app. Very simple, like I said, but I’ve done it this way for probably 10 years now. I also keep at the bottom of that sheet my grocery/gas budget. I write on it and then subtract it.

Cash budgeter here :) Could you link your wallets, please :) I don't carry around my cash with me at all times. I plan my shopping days to the weekends only. As a single mom that is usually the only time I can do my shopping. I also don't feel comfortable walking around with lots of money on me. Anyways, I want a good quality wallet that I can take with me when I go shopping that can hold my cash wallets. Instead of all of my money loose in the wallet that I have now. Or taking my entire binder when I don't need everything. Or even loose cash envelopes in my purse. I have looked at some on Amazon but can't really tell what is a good quality wallet. I have some that I used to use that were "cheap" and they were made out of felt. I love your everyday wallet the most. :)

Can you me what is the type of planner you're using where the sheets come out like you showed? and is there a place to buy just a basic one. I went to the happy planner but they seemed too involved.

How do you set this up if you get paid bi-weekly?
@Happy2planwithDesiree5 ай бұрын
If I was paid bi weekly I would split my check in half and then use one half for the first week and the other half for the second week. So it's like you're paying yourself each week. I've heard it's easier to cash stuff each week vs every two weeks because you don't feel like you are running out of money during the second week so that's why I would use this strategy if that was my situation.

How do I use the system for once a month
@Happy2planwithDesiree3 ай бұрын
Do you mean getting paid once a month? If I had a monthly paycheck I would split that amount into the amount of weeks. So for instance I would take $4000 a month and split that into 4 weeks, sometimes you might have 5 weeks, and you would cash plan and stuff $1000 for each week.
