4:10 I think the IDEA behind the location of the UI Menu is that it allows you to look at both your character and the menu simultaneously, without having to look back and forth.
@AdvisorLorne2 жыл бұрын
That was my thinking as well. When I saw that it wasn't plastered to the right corner I was actually a fan of that. I used to play a lot of MMOs and I'd always adjust the bars to be somewhat close to the character since positioning is really important and you don't want your eyes wavering. Would be nice if you could adjust the UI layout for player preference though. If you're playing portable as opposed to a big screen, you can see the whole screen a lot easier.

The Arts menu has to be within eyesight of the character because you have to time your Arts with the connection of your auto-attacks while monitoring the recharge of your other Arts. If it was further to the right you'd have to be constantly taking your eyesight off the character to see where you're at with your Arts and vice versa, which wouldn't work with the timing needed to Art cancel.

But it's also useful to see the cool down meter build. I don't dislike it lol and it's useful enough where I don't feel annoyed that it's too close. Im with you there, I cant force myself to play the second one, its so much of a departure from the first. I just wished they didn't call it Xenoblade chronicles 2. @BladetastersDelight2 жыл бұрын
@@gamernotagamer9784 my advice to you guys is to hop straight into 3 honestly. It’s a firm middle ground between 1 and 2 and I think the further you get into 3 the more of a chance you’ll be able to grasp what 2 is going for and maybe one day go back. It’s worth noting that 3 is set an unknown (as of the start of game) amount of time after both 1 and 2 as the worlds of 1 and 2 have essentially fused together. Therefore one half of the party is 1 inspired and the other half of the party is 2 inspired, not just in design but also in play style (the 1 characters abilities auto charge while the 2 characters abilities charge based on auto attacks). If you’re a fan of 1 you’ll pick up all the references to it and also the mystery around what seems like Melia’s return as the masked Queen of the 1 side. Meanwhile Nia from 2 is the masked queen on the 2 side. I honestly think tho if you play 3 and see both the 1 type mechanics and style fused with 2’s, you’ll also see what type of themes that 2 brought to the table beneath its quirky veneer and eventually be sold enough to eventually go back after finishing this game. The thing about 2 is that, for me it really was hard to stomach to the point that originally I ended up just watching a KZbin movie edit of both the base game and Torna, just to see if there was some sort of point to all its antics. And I can truly say there was. It’s hard to see through its initial meme type presentation. But the Xeno series has always explored post-humanism in different ways, and the concepts of Blades in that game is one of the major ways that’s handled. It takes a decent while to get to the meat of it, but essentially learning the story and motivations around antagonist Jin both later in the base game and also in Torna really ‘humanises’ the Blades who are initially presented purely as ‘objects’; the sexualisation is pandering and off-putting but also ties into this theme in the meta sense. (And worth adding that, narrative aside, 2 of course builds upon the gameplay loop of these games of exploring beautiful vistas to pretty music and an mmo style combat system, which I eventually was able to go back and properly play and properly enjoy; aka the best part of this franchise imo, the actual gameplay.) Sorry for the essay lol, but I’m only 20 hours into 3 (it’s really great especially where I’m at where things have properly opened up) but I do think it’s doing something interesting in telling its own story with its own themes, while also highlighting and building upon the themes that were prevalent in both 1 and 2. It really makes these games feel like a cohesive trilogy now, while simultaneously feeling like a sequel to them both equally (whereas 1 and 2 are more like ‘sidequels’ to one another)

@@gamernotagamer9784 to be fair so far none of the games are really sequels of each other. I loved xenoblade 2 combat and had a good story once it gets going. Bought the remaster of xeno 1, but could never get into it combat was so boring compared to 2
@gamernotagamer97842 жыл бұрын
@@dushikorsou1 Naming convention is important and needs to be adhered to, Xenosaga 1,2,3 are labled correctly and follow a continuing story. Im a stickler for things like that, as should we all be. Name it something else if it doesn't continue the story that's all I ask. I don't like using an established name to sell another game. If the game is good it can stand on its own merits and Name alone. The issue with remakes is that the originals are made for a certain time period and for a certain demographic. Old guys like me, like the old school rpg mechanics as they have a certain charm. So for the time and for the demographic Xeno 1 is just right for me. So expecting an older game to be like the current gen is a little unrealistic. I dont actually like the new fighting mechanics from Xeno 2 which is part of the reason I haven't completed it yet. I haven't played any of the Xenoblade Chronicles games yet. This LOOKS great. However, it still doesn't seem like a game that I could get into. I haven't seen any reviews or gameplay that changes my mind yet. I am watching a channel play through the game, though, so I am still on the "edge" of deciding to buy and try 3. I don't backtrack, though, so none of the earlier games would be played I don't think (unless I do a franchise playthrough). Thank you for the review, regardless.

You guys are the people who actually got me into Xenoblade. I’m about 28 hours into my first play though of the first game and I have to say, the combat, characters, music and the world are absolutely top tier. Thanks again guys!

I’m loving this one a ton. The class system gives another reason to grind besides just leveling up. The soundtrack is amazing.

I am having SOOOO much fun switching party members mid-battle and they all have something unique to offer. The AI healers will actually revive other AI party members! And I can do sidesteps and backflips to quickly switch positions. The AI feel significantly better at starting and finishing combos. I have Mio as my swordfighter right now and she will position herself to the enemy’s side to land her break art, then she will go behind to land edge thrust for extra damage. I wasn’t sure if I could trust the AI to land positional attacks but so far so good. The combat in this game is very addictive and the story has me captivated. I am thinking about this game all the time.

7:33 those starting environments really don't sell the game like the previous ones did, and a lot of the review vids are sticking entirely to a sandy rock-valley area. I 'get' not spoiling things, but surely a few shots of 'glow swamp' or 'jurassic park big things' wouldn't really be ruining the surprise.

They have outdone themselves. I love it. Time will tell if I like it more than 1 (not something I would even think would happen! but so far this is definitely up there. I'm realling feeling it! hehe). I am so happy with the collection points are back to normal but even more, that it is improved. You can still collect them in combat!! Can't tell u how happy this makes me lol

I know what you mean about Xenoblade 1. To me, its my all time favorite JRPG AND FOR THE MOST PART IT HAS NEVER BEEN CLOSE FOR ME, THIS GAME MAY CHALLENGE THAT TITLE FOR ME, WE SHALL SEE, BUT I LUV IT SO FAR.

@@hepwo91222 Yup I feel exactly the same!! the story pacing in this one is amazing! It feels fast even though I have spent way too much time exploring / collecting and killing rares / challenge mobs lol. So if I didn't do any of that I can't imagine how fast it gets to the point. So good!

I am always dreaming of the Xenogears/Xenosaga returning... XC1 didn't hit me the same way, but I never found the time to finish and move on to others. Really happy to hear this is their best yet and achieving great success though!! I hope that either the series moves in that direction, or they eventually become big and successful enough to reclaim their old rights. I even bought XC1 HD to support, though I don't have a Switch yet! Speaking of which... I'd love it if they would bring these to Steam - would make a lot more accessible for me! But I imagine that's unlikely since they seem pretty tight with Nintendo now.

Finished the game yesterday, I would give 9/10. I think this is the first time I shed tears in a game (at the chap 5 ending and chap 6 beginning). There is one point that really resonates with me, especially when you already become a father (*no spoiler*). Anyway, after finish the game, I fell into deep silence. It is unlike any other games including xb1 and xb2 or torna, that I felt like I completed an adventure and have a great satisfaction by doing so. Completing xb3 makes me fell into deep thought, as the story really makes you start wondering "what life is?", "what would you do if you were offered such a choice to stop at the best moment in your life?" "How would you carry on with your life?" Etc. Even at the end the protagonist was still unsure as there is not right or wrong, but he made his decision to pursue the future rather than stop at the current pace. That really moved me. Overall, I think xb3 is really a good game, it may not be perfect or very satisfying as xb1 and xb2, but it is very "deep" and really triggered you to think "what life is"

I can't properly express what I think of this game, I'm like a 10 yr old on christmas morning, gushing with excitement! I bought two copies of the game to play alongside my wife, same as xeno2. She's still waiting for her physical copy to arrive (i did digital), watching me play and clapping her hands and jumping up and down at the first main-boss cutscene. Noah and Mio are going to be fun to watch.

This is a 10/10 game for me and definitely made it worthwhile to upgrade to the OLED version from my old Switch. I love the refined combat system in XC3 and it is a vast improvement over XC2 where I needed a science degree to understand the older games UI and combat system. The graphics are also far easier to see on the small screen compared to XC2's muddy fuzzy graphics. It is now one of my top 3 Switch games (with BOTW and Animal Crossing).

I played 1 & 2 of Xenoblade. I liked the first but the second story didn’t really resonate with me that much. Just started playing 3 and WOW. From the beginning the story has already made me want to play through the whole game. Characters are interesting and combat is fun to jump into and the soundtrack has amazing music. Only into the first chapter and I give it 9/10. May increase the score the farther I go through it.

The exploration, side quests and combat were all pretty cool in the beginning (and still are). But now the story has completely captured me, and I MUST know what happens next, asap. Maybe I will focus more on the gameplay in NG+.
